Getting Started Wrist Audio Player Link Soft (Link Soft) is an application that lets you send MP3 files to your CASIO Wrist Audio Player. Link Soft does not include functions for converting music data into MP3 files. Use commercially available MP3 conversion software for conversion. Minimum Computer System Requirements The following shows the minimum computer system requirements to run Wrist Audio Player Link Soft. Computer: Macintosh PowerPC G3 or higher Operating System: Mac OS 8.6 or higher Memory: At least 64MB (RAM) Hard Disk: At least 4MB of available space Monitor: dots, at least 256 colors Other: CD-ROM drive, USB port*, keyboard, mouse * Proper operation is guaranteed only for a computer equipped with a USB port as standard. File Compatibility Only files that satisfy the following conditions are compatible with your Wrist Audio Player and Link Soft. MPEG1 Audio Player Type 3, MPEG 2 Audio Player Type 3, MPEG 2.5 Audio Player Type 3 Use of other file types is not supported. File Bit Rate: 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 80, 96, 112, 128Kbps Your Wrist Audio Player cannot play a file with a bit rate other than those noted above back. File Bit Rate Type: Fixed Variable bit rate files produce irregular display information on your Wrist Audio Player during playback. MP3 File ID3 Tag: Ver1, Ver1.1, or Ver2 Some MP3 conversion applications available on the market do not support ID3 Tags. Wrist Audio Player Link Soft User s Guide - Page 2 -
Installing Wrist Audio Player Link Soft 1. Double-click the compressed file you downloaded from the CASIO Website. This extracts the files and stores them into a folder named WAPLinkSoft (Eng). 2. Drag the USB driver and drop it onto your System folder. This automatically places the USB driver in the Extensions folder, which is inside the System folder. 3. After finishing the above settings, restart your Macintosh. Uninstalling Wrist Audio Player Link Soft Delete the Wrist Audio Player Link Soft program and the USB driver to uninstall the application from your system. To delete the program Delete the WAPLinkSoft (Eng) folder from your hard disk. To delete the USB driver Delete WAPUSBDriver from the Extensions folder, which is located in your System folder. After finishing the above settings, restart your Macintosh. Wrist Audio Player Link Soft User s Guide - Page 3 -
Using the Interface/Charger Unit Make sure the Wrist Audio Player is in the Timekeeping Mode when you mount it onto the Interface/Charger Unit. Connecting the Interface/Charger Unit to Your Computer Use the USB cable that comes with the Interface/Charger Unit to connect the Interface/Charger Unit to your computer. You do not need to connect the AC adaptor to the Interface/Charger Unit if you do not plan to charge the battery of your Wrist Audio Player. Make sure the USB plugs are plugged securely into the correct sockets. Improper connections lead to improper operation. Operation is not guaranteed when you connect to a computer that has another USB device connected to it. Operation is not guaranteed if you are using a USB hub or a USB cable extension. Be sure to use only the USB cable that comes with the Interface/Charger Unit. Proper operation may not be possible, depending on the type of the USB devices being used. When connecting to a computer, make sure the temperature is as close to room temperature (around 23 C) as possible. USB port Wrist Audio Player Link Soft User s Guide - Page 4 -
Mounting the Wrist Audio Player onto the Interface/Charger Unit 1. Carefully lower the left (9 o clock) side of the Wrist Audio Player into the Interface/Charger Unit tray so the two tabs in the tray enter the grooves in the side of the Wrist Audio Player. Tabs 2. Lay the Wrist Audio Player onto the tray, and then slide the tray in the direction indicated by the arrow until you hear it click securely into place. Wrist Audio Player Link Soft User s Guide - Page 5 -
Removing the Wrist Audio Player from the Interface/Charger Unit 1. Press the release button to release the tray. 2. Slide the tray open and then remove the Wrist Audio Player. Wrist Audio Player Link Soft User s Guide - Page 6 -
Using Wrist Audio Player Link Soft Starting Up Wrist Audio Player Link Soft Double-click WAPLinkSoft. This displays the Wrist Audio Player Link Soft main screen. Linking After you start up the Link Soft and mount the Wrist Audio Player onto the Interface/ Charger Unit, the Link Soft performs a link routine during which it compares its exclusive ID number against the ID number of the Multi Media Card (MMC) inside the connected Wrist Audio Player. The first time you link with a Wrist Audio Player, you must initialize its MMC (deleting all of its data) and register its MMC ID number as the exclusive ID number of your copy of the Link Soft. Wrist Audio Player Link Soft User s Guide - Page 7 -
The message Cannot verify the ID of the MMC. Initialize the MMC? appears if this is the first time you are linking with your Wrist Audio Player. Click Yes to initialize the MMC (deleting all of its data) and register its ID number as the new exclusive ID number of your copy of the Link Soft. Your copy of the Link Soft establishes an exclusive relationship with the MMC inside a particular Wrist Audio Player, and you should always use the same copy of the Link Soft to send files to a particular Wrist Audio Player. Note The message Cannot verify the ID of the MMC. Initialize the MMC? also appears if the software s exclusive ID number does not match the MMC ID number of the connected Wrist Audio Player. This happens when the Wrist Audio Player you are using already has an exclusive relationship with another computer. If you want to establish a new exclusive relationship between your current computer and the Wrist Audio Player you are using, click Yes to initialize the MMC. Note that this also deletes all data currently in the memory of the Wrist Audio Player, and makes it impossible for the Wrist Audio Player to link with its previous computer (without initialization). If you want to leave the current data in the memory of the Wrist Audio Player and retain its exclusive relationship with the other computer, click No. In this case, you will not be able to link with the Wrist Audio Player using the computer that caused the cannot verify the ID message to appear. If the computer fails to establish a connection with the Wrist Audio Player, the message Data communication with the Wrist Audio Player failed. Check the connection. appears. If this happens, remove the Wrist Audio Player from the Charger/Interface Unit and unplug the USB cabled from the Charger/Interface Unit. Next, reconnect the cable, remount the watch, and then try again. Wrist Audio Player Link Soft User s Guide - Page 8 -
