3 Background of Project With the aim of reducing energy consumption in Asia, the Energy Audit Program through IT, based on the Asia Knowledge Economy Initiative, under contract from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Asia Knowledge Economy Initiative Launched in 2009 A future-oriented cooperative project to build an advanced knowledgeeconomy zone based on Japan s experience and know-how The Diagnosis on Energy Saving by IT is a practical project to enhance the use of IT in economic activities. To help reduce energy consumption in Asia. 2009: The project started with four companies. 2010: The participants increased to eight. 2011: A consortium was formed. 2012: Four companies are performing the project mainly in Malaysia. 4 Goals of the Project To create win-win relationships between businesses in Japan and other Asian countries Goals Japan To create new markets to expand business. 5 Activities of the Project We have conducted four activities to enhance Japanese energy-saving technologies to be used in Asia. This report covers (1) to (3). (1) (2) Mission sending for Green IT diagnosis on energy saving Holding Asia Green IT seminars Send experts to diagnose energy saving. Talk about the achievements of the project and Green IT examples in Japan. In Vietnam and China (3) Compiling a Collection of Best Practices Introduce successful examples of energy-saving solutions in Japan. 20 Publication of Renkei Control Guidebook From introduction through saving verification RENKEI control is to pursue energy efficiency optimization with two or more elements interacting within one another to provide the most efficient and effective result from the control. This concept embodies a wealth of experience in energy efficiency and accumulated knowledge in Japan with smart utilization of the Green IT concept, and also follows the ISO International Standard as well as the guideline of IEC. 25 Activities in FY2012 In FY2012, we are focusing on Malaysia and working to help the diagnosing companies develop the business. Projects Sending a mission for Green IT diagnosis on energy saving Holding Green IT seminars (scheduled for Jan. 29, 2013) Issuing the collection of best practices and renkei control guidebook Approaches in FY2012 Study effects of energy-saving diagnoses from various aspects. Diagnose facilities in Malaysia where Green IT is being promoted. All-Japan team diagnoses energy-saving effects in one country. Enhancing business meetings, which were welcomed in the last two years Holding lectures with the target companies Giving lectures at a seminar organized by the local counterpart (synergetic effect) Introducing energy-saving products, solutions and case studies of member companies Introducing energy-saving methods Green IT training Dispatching experts (based on the Trade and Investment Facilitation Project) Using METI s trade and investment facilitation project like last year.
