1 Aug. 25, 2015 Graduate School of Management, GLOBIS University News Release GLOBIS University holds 3 rd FT (Full-time) MBA graduation ceremony A total of 28 MBA graduates from 14 countries set to become "visionary leaders who create and innovate societies" The Full-time MBA Program in English at the Graduate School of Management, GLOBIS University (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Yoshito Hori) held a graduation ceremony at its Tokyo campus on Sunday, August 23 for the class that entered the 2014 Academic Year. The 28 graduates come from 14 countries (enrollment numbers in parentheses): China (2), Croatia (1), Denmark (1), Germany (1), Indonesia (1), Iran (1), Japan (2), Malaysia (2), the Philippines (4), Switzerland (1), Thailand (7), Turkmenistan (1), the United States (3), and Vietnam (1). During the ceremony, President Yoshito Hori addressed the new graduates and conferred certificates of completion before the students took to the podium to express their personal missions and gratitude. President Hori (left photograph) told the gathering, "You have knowledge of the methods of management and leadership, which you have acquired at GLOBIS, as well as a global perspective, a historical perspective, philosophical understanding, integrity, and personal mission, and you are now about to depart on your journey as visionary leaders who create and innovate societies. I encourage you to take risks and boldly embrace challenges. The 28 students from the third class of the MBA Program (Full-time) enrolled on September 3, 2014have studied together and supported each other. Taking into account the fact that students from overseas would be studying in Tokyo, the Japanese capital, the curriculum featured new courses relating to the management of diversity, that is different cultures and nationalities, and courses that looked into the practical realities of management in Japan and in Asia. These included Cross Cultural Management, Globalization of Japanese and Asian Companies, and Global Perspectives.

2 Extracurricular activities began with a Global Sharing Program, a pre-enrollment orientation that was conducted jointly with employees of the Tokyu Group. Other extracurricular activities included Top seminars throughout the year, company visits and plant tours throughout Japan from January onwards, Japanese culture experience tours to places like Shoin Shrine, exchanges with overseas MBA students from countries such as the U.S., China, and Mexico, a tour to see the recovery in Tohoku, and participation in the G1 Global Conference, where global leaders from different countries engage in debates. These diverse activities deepened the students learning in a concentrated fashion. Beginning in May, students participated in the "Corporate Mentorship Program" (CMP), a partnership between global companies in Japan and the Graduate School of Management, GLOBIS University. In the CMP, students did internships (for 100 hours) at companies, worked with selected personnel at companies to develop proposals for addressing management issues facing the companies, provided lessons in conversational English to employees of the partner companies, and so on. Through these activities, the students learned about jobs and corporate culture at Japanese companies and took action to strengthen ties. In the third term, 25 students who had requested to do an internship as a course subject were accepted as interns by 15 companies, and some students have actually been offered jobs with the companies they did their internships with. A total of 35 Japanese companies have participated in the CMP, including Aeon, CyberAgent, Hoshino Resorts, Industrial Growth Platform, Nissan Motor, Rakuten, and Yokogawa Electric, while 31 overseas companies have done so, including A.T. Kearney, GE Japan, IBM Japan, Johnson & Johnson, and Microsoft. A total of 10 start-up firms have also participated, including Oisix, Terra Motors, and Uzabase. As a result, a total of 76 companies had participated as of August 24, 2015, with an additional 23 companies participating in the year from August 2014 (list below). The Graduate School of Management, GLOBIS University offers the MBA program in English in Tokyo as one solution to the challenge of developing global leaders, which is a key task for Japan. The program has three key characteristics that set it apart: (1) partnership with CMP companies to provide students with practical business skills and participating companies with the opportunity to hire global talent; (2) a growing global network of people who understand Japanese values and culture by having students assemble here from countries around the world, forge strong friendships with each other, and then spread out again on the global stage; and (3) a new channel for Japanese companies to hire global talent because most students have a strong desire to find jobs in Japan. Graduate School of Management, GLOBIS University ( The predecessor of the Graduate School of Management, GLOBIS University, the "GDBA" GLOBIS original MBA program, began in The Graduate School of Management, GLOBIS University opened in 2006 (it was initially established as a stock corporation, and converted to an educational corporation in 2008).
