1 Vision Statement: The Arizona CTE Curriculum Consortium will be the premier educational model for professional development, CTE curriculum, and academic and industry integration to empower teachers to prepare students for career success. Mission Statement: The Arizona CTE Curriculum Consortium will provide a network of professional development opportunities to advance outstanding instructional skills among our teachers and develop exceptional CTE curriculum aligned with state standards. Guiding Actions: Ø TO INCREASE student retention and learning by providing well designed, relevant, and engaging lessons aligned to current state standards. Ø TO PROVIDE resources and high quality professional development that will increase teacher retention and student achievement. Ø TO FACILITATE the process of teachers developing and collaborating as professionals. Ø TO ENSURE universal access to quality instructional materials and program specific information. Ø TO UTILIZE authentic student assessment and data to drive instruction in the classroom. Ø TO COLLABORATE with all stakeholders, including local and state school, government, and business partners. Ø TO EMPOWER teachers to prepare students to be successful in acquiring workplace skills and industry credentials.

2 Strategic Areas I. TO INCREASE student retention and learning by providing well designed, relevant, and engaging lessons aligned to current state standards. : 1. Teacher teams will integrate Common Core State Standards into all existing and future lesson plans as appropriate. 2. The Consortium will develop CTE curriculum that embeds appropriate academic standards that will warrant academic credit within those CTE programs. II. TO PROVIDE resources and high quality professional development that will increase teacher retention and student achievement. : 1. The Consortium will provide professional development for teachers to integrate and teach relevant Common Core State Standards. 2. The Consortium will continue to train and provide other necessary resources that empower teachers to write quality lesson plans for CTE programs not yet represented in the Consortium wiki. 3. The Consortium will develop training and resources that will enable teachers to write formative assessments for lessons developed for the Consortium wiki. B. Partnerships 1. The consortium will coordinate meetings with key curriculum leaders including the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) and the Governor s Office to align Curriculum Standards leading towards high quality CTE Curriculum resources. 1. The Consortium will develop Professional Development training for Administrators and teachers on evaluating and monitoring instruction for effectiveness.

3 III. TO FACILITATE the process of teachers developing and collaborating as professionals. 1. The Consortium will provide and promote a Collaboration page to allow teachers to add assessment questions that they develop while teaching lessons that can then be evaluated and revised during summer writing sessions. 1. The Consortium will align curriculum materials, where appropriate, to current state standards until industry recognized certifications at the local, state, and national levels become the state standard. 2. The Consortium will work with the AZ Department of Education to develop partnerships with key business and industry partners for each program area to regularly review curriculum standards and align them with industry assessments. 1. The Consortium will develop on- going Professional Development support and opportunities for current best practices (i.e. PLC, modeling, certification hours, analyzing data for instruction) IV. TO ENSURE universal access to quality instructional materials and program specific information 1. Teacher teams will develop a scope and sequence for all CTE program areas. 2. Teacher teams will develop lesson plans for all CTE program areas that include formative and summative assessments and will be accessible for all teachers. 1. The Consortium will partner with Regional Service Centers, Post- Secondary Education, and JTED s to facilitate sharing the resources and professional development created by the Consortium with its members.

4 1. The Consortium will utilize interactive distance learning for Professional Development. V. TO UTILIZE authentic student assessment and data to drive instruction in the classroom. 1. Teacher teams will develop units of instruction that are in alignment with state assessments and/or national/state certifications as state standards are aligned with those certifications. 1. The consortium will coordinate meetings with key curriculum leaders including the Arizona Department of Education (ADE), the Governor s Office, and Arizona Educational Groups (i.e. ASBA, ASBO, ACTEaz, ACOVA) to align Curriculum assessments and data collection to generate high quality CTE Curriculum resources. : 1. The AZ CTE Curriculum Consortium will work collaboratively with educational partners, including ADE, to identify relevant data points to be collected and analyzed for the improvement of the Consortium. Once identified, Consortium members agree to support this work with necessary resources. VI. TO COLLABORATE with all stakeholders, including local and state school, government, and business partners. 1. The consortium will develop collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders across Arizona including but not limited to the Arizona Commerce Authority, trade organizations, local workforce development boards, and economic development organizations in order to ensure the inclusion of all industry advances in the curriculum developed. 2. The consortium will develop partnerships with stakeholder groups statewide to market, fund, and lobby for quality Career and Technical Education curriculum resources.

5 VII. TO EMPOWER teachers to prepare students to be successful in acquiring workplace skills and industry credentials. 1. Teacher teams will continue to develop units of instruction that teach work- based employability skills and incorporate authentic means to practice and assess students growth in those skills based on the state rubric for workplace employability skills.
