1 Division : Education and Human Services Graduate Learning s: 1. Participate in curriculum development projects. 2. Supervise co-operating teacher positions. 3. Assume department head activities. 4. Engage in mentoring roles in professional instruction programs. 5. Pursue further study at the doctoral level in curriculum, instruction, and technology. 6. Represent contemporary best practices in classroom teaching. 7. Successfully orchestrate strategies and techniques in culturally diverse classrooms. 8. Articulate the concerns and capabilities of educators dedicated to the pursuit of a teaching career in a pluralistic society. Assessment Data K-6 Teacher Graduate students are assessed through a series of state sanctioned achievement tests. They are produced by E.T.S. and called PRAXIS tests. It is our policy that all graduate students are pass each test required for their specific area of certification prior to enrolling in EDU 575: Student Teaching. (attached 2005 catalog page 42) Five tests total are required for K-6 certification. In addition all students are assessed using the PDE 430 Form (attached). seeking initial certification. The form mandates that specific standards be met in order for a student to be recommended by Neumann University to PDE for certification. K-12 Special Education student has met the competencies established by PDE for K-6 certification as well as how the student has met the 10 Interstate New Teachers Assessment and Support Consortium (INTASC) Principles One test from the PRAXIS series produced by E.T.S. is required by PDE. This is a test in Special Education: Core Knowledge and Applications; a benchmark score for passing has been established by PDE.. In addition, all students participating in EDU 575 are assessed using the PDE form 430 (attached) seeking initial certification. The form mandates that specific standards in order for a student to be recommended by Neumann University to PDE for certification. student has met the competencies established by PDE for Special Education certification as well as how the students has met the 10 Interstate New Teachers Assessment and Support Consortium (INTASC) Principles Students who participate in EDU 576 are assessed through a demonstration of the attainment of PDE state standards on special education (attached). This is a portfolio assessment prepared by the student during his or her 14- week special education internship. Last Update: 10/8/2012 1
2 K-12 Principal One Leadership Test from the PRAXIS test series developed by ETS and required by PDE. The student is also assessed in the Principal Internship (EDU 577). Secondary The Total Evaluation in EDU 577 takes place using a PDE approved summary instrument aligned with the PDE core and corollary standards. (attached Internship Manual 49.2) Graduate students are assessed through a series of state sanctioned achievement tests. They are produced by E.T.S. and called PRAXIS tests. All students are required to pass all tests prior to student teaching.
