ROC Fulfillment Fulfillment Optimization driven by Network Awareness Accelerate time to market for differentiated services and bundles Evolve Fulfillment operations pragmatically, while delivering profitable new services Leverage industry standards to reduce complexity and customizations Achieve unified management of connectivity, content and application Support unpredictable next-generation service fulfillment requirements w w w. s u b e x w o r l d. c o m
Introduction To combat competition, reduce churn and increase per-subscriber revenue and profitability, communications service providers must concentrate now more than ever on where the value-added margins are that is, on sticky application and content offerings like IPTV, VoIP, gaming and software-as-a-service. This need to rapidly launch and deliver a new generation of services is driving the transformation of not only service provider networks but also their operations. Traditional fulfillment solutions lack the IP and application domain intelligence necessary to support next-generation communications and media offerings. And their reliance on silo-ed processes, manual operations and often inaccurate data make it all but impossible to keep pace with the volume, velocity and continuous interactions of dynamic services. The new digital economy demands a more cohesive fulfillment strategy, one which facilitates rapid response to market changes, integrates formerly separate functions to achieve the throughput and efficiency required by next-generation services and ensures a significantly lower total cost of ownership (TCO) to match new economic realities. Fulfillment Optimization driven by Network Awareness The ROC Fulfillment solution from Subex is designed specifically to meet the rigorous demands of next-generation networks, services, subscribers and economics. Based on the industry s most comprehensive, wholly integrated OSS platform and empowered by perpetually accurate network and service knowledge, ROC Fulfillment efficiently and cost effectively consolidates, coordinates and automates the service creation and delivery functions across vendors, networks and services, from CPE to content. ROC Fulfillment helps service providers achieve fulfillment optimization based on real-time network awareness. It takes care of the entire telecom service fulfillment process right from order orchestration to service modeling to service provisioning and activation. ROC Fulfillment optimizes the fulfillment process in the following ways Perpetually accurate network and service knowledge: Tracks network s actual, logical and provision-able physical inventory, thereby enabling accurate service provisioning and minimal order fall-out Intelligent Activation: ROC Fulfillment first discovers the network components and matches them with the incoming service requests. If the network resources are not available, the service request is terminated then and there, without touching the network thereby reducing errors/fallouts and the Total Cost of Ownership [TCO] Understanding of the network at physical and logical level [deep discovery]: ROC Fulfillment understands the need for content based services as well and has the engine which can do the logical configuration to bridge the gap between the two Greater operational efficiency: Through increased automation and higher reuse of service components Improved customer experience: Through greater service innovation and reduced time to market for new services and service requests Conformance to industry standards: Being conformant to the latest industry standards (etom, SID), ROC Fulfillment lends itself to easy configuration and co-existence with the existing OSS stack of service providers The Subex solution is part of a wider Operations Support System/Business Support System (OSS/BSS) end-to-end platform through which we are realizing significant benefits including an acceleration of service delivery by 300%, a 20% reduction in operational costs and substantially improved customer satisfaction metrics. Giovanni Chiarelli, VP Technical Information Services, Telecom Italia
Operational Efficiency Reduced Costs Fulfillment Optimization Customer Satisfaction Leveraging on the above core advantages, Subex s ROC Fulfillment helps service providers attain a sure-shot competitive advantage over other service providers. Innovative yet Pragmatic Approach to meet your needs ROC Fulfillment uses a unique and innovative approach towards service fulfillment. It helps customers to transform their operations and deliver profitable services to the market at the same time. Unlike solutions plagued by lengthy deployment cycles as well as costly development and maintenance requirements, ROC Fulfillment solutions are pre-integrated, platform-based and leverage production-proven domain expertise. As a result, customers enjoy rapid, predictable deployments and upgrades that have cost certainty. The solution bundles target functionality that addresses key business issues, providing right-sized solutions that can grow with our customers. At the same time, the modular and extensible ROC Fulfillment solution architecture enables ease of customization, integration with existing customer environments and incremental extension to support additional mission critical services and architectures over time. Services Supported Wireless 2G, 3G, 4G, LTE, Ringback tone, Video Blog, WiMax etc Fixed Line IPTV, DSL, Triple Play, VoIP, MPLS, VPLS, Carrier Ethernet etc So whether you plan to consolidate, cap, or keep existing systems and processes, ROC Fulfillment solutions give you full flexibility to choose the fulfillment transformation strategy that s right for your business. Productized at the Core and Framework at the Edges Subex ROC Fulfillment employs a perfect blend of productization and flexibility which results in much faster time to market and reduced total cost of ownership. The connectivity aspects of the network are productized thereby reducing errors and service fallouts and also ensuring first-time-right service provisioning. Its Service Accelerators already model the multi-vendor/technology resources needed to support complex next generation services that can account for up to 70% of the service definition effort. At the same time, ROC Fulfillment provides flexibility at the edges (content based services and applications) so that service providers can customize their service offerings as per the need of the hour. The easy to use Service Creation Environment allow service providers to rapidly develop new service definitions (including behaviors, attributes, and dependencies), as well as combine newly created services and pre-built templates to form new bundled offerings.
as is Customer Centric Service Delivery Management ROC Fulfillment ensures customer centric service delivery management through constant feedback from the network about the customers services and topologies. The customer is kept in the center of all processes from service fulfillment to activation to reconciliation to trouble-shooting. Continuous service verification ensures that the customer experience not only starts positive but also stays positive. Accurate network knowledge and ability to verify the exact service flows based on real-time knowledge plays a very important role in the entire process. This also allows rapid troubleshooting with ability to verify and repair on a per customer basis. 360 degree view of Service Fulfillment ROC Fulfillment has the ability to discover the network on real time basis. This discovery driven fulfillment ensures that the services are provisioned based on the accurate view of the network. This enables first-time-right provisioning thereby dramatically reducing order and service fallout and enabling positive customer experience. ROC Fulfillment gives a 360 degree view of the entire fulfillment process from the service point of view and the network point of view which greatly helps the service providers in ensuring a smooth and hassle free process. Network & Services Assets & Outside Plant Order Entry & CRM Planning Billing Service Assurance Access/ Line Cost Inventory & Provisioning 6 Reconcile Reconcile as is view of network, services, and customers against other OSS/BSS systems 1 Discovery Discover as is view of network and services from CPE to content 5 Optimize 2 Design Squeeze the most out fo your network by optimizing the network and services en masse Design new services and application delivery based on accurate as is view of dynamic network 4 Verify Verify configuration changes from the as provisioned state and enable automated repair 3 Activate Activate at very high volumes with solution proven at world s largest Tier 1s Intelligent Activation ROC Fulfillment uses a unique approach of first discovering the network elements in real-time and then matching it with the incoming service requests. In case the network resources are not available, the service request is terminated then and there without touching the network. This is very important as touching the network unnecessarily might disrupt other services and impact existing live customers. Moreover the fact that all incoming service requests are verified right at the beginning helps in reducing error and fallout rates thereby reducing the total cost of ownership. This approach has been shown to reduce fallout rates by up to 25%.
The ROC Fulfillment Advantage ROC Fulfillment Solutions capture the best practices of subscriber-centric service fulfillment from the most successful implementations across the industry and enable you to rapidly launch advanced, next-generation services. This is made possible by a unified OSS platform, which provides these extensive operational benefits. ROC Fulfillment Components ROC Fulfillment Functional Diagram Service Layer Service Catalog: The Service Catalog is ROC Fulfillment s repository of service definitions and templates which allows the automation of the service delivery process. By re-using service components and services, it brings consistency and reliability to the service fulfillment process. Service Order Manager: The Service Order Manager presents the model of the services that are visible to the Order Management systems and are identifiable by an end customer. This layer models the services and creates a hierarchy out of the various RFS (Resource Facing Services) and Resources. Service Design and Assign: ROC Fulfillment s Service Design and Assign capability enables users to design a service and assign appropriate physical and logical resources using an optimal network path in a multi-vendor, multi-technology environment. Service Inventory: The Service Inventory is a repository of the resources and services that exist in a network. When combined with the discovery component of the adaptors and resource model it discovers the relevant resources in the network and maintains a view of their current configuration. Service Discovery: Service Discovery uses the building blocks of logical and physical resources populated in the database as part of the Resource Repository to reconstruct the services that exist in the network.
Resource Layer Resource Activation: Resource Activation translates service requests into a series of configuration commands that can be understood by network devices or applications. Resource Design and Assign: Resource Design and Assign configure appropriate logical and physical network elements based on ROC Fulfillment s as is view of the network generated from the Resource Repository. Resource Definitions: These are pre-built resource models representing the network and computing elements needed to deliver the end services. Resource Repository: The Resource Repository is the store of physical and logical network resources that presents users with near real-time cache of the as is state of the network. Resource Discovery: Resource Discovery is the ability to upload logical and physical service related from the network and map it into normalized Resource Models. Network Layer Network Adaptors: The adaptor layer is used to mediate between the resource model and the actual elements in the network. Heavyweight network adaptors support resource activation, resource assign/design, resource discovery and resource repository functions. Application Adaptors: These adaptors are used to communicate with simple network elements, systems, and software applications used to deliver services. Examples of the types of systems are AAA servers, HLRs, voice mail servers, applications, content management systems, IPTV middleware, VoIP application servers, soft switches, etc. Third Party Adaptors: These adaptors configure and provision services that belong to a third party provider as part of a Business to Business connection. Examples are the interface to a third party providing video content, a third party providing hosted services, or for requesting a service to be set up in a partner s network Service Creation Environment Service Modeler & Process Designer: This is an easy to-use, graphical development environment which allows users to rapidly develop new service definitions (including behaviors, attributes, and dependencies), as well as combine newly created services and pre-built templates to form new bundled offerings. Optimizer Toolkit: Optimizer toolkit is a value-added service application that enables service providers to automate the process of network migrations related to network topology changes, physical infrastructure consolidation, and vendor/equipment upgrades. Adaptor Toolkit: The Adaptor toolkit refers to the ability that enables Carrier IT departments, Systems integrators, vendor partners and Engineering factories to develop their own custom adaptors that are not on the Subex roadmap. Fulfillment Analytics ROC fulfillment s real-time reporting function provides data on all aspects of the Order / Provisioning management process. Reports are based on comprehensive, time-stamped event data, supporting analyses of varying complexity.
