4 2008 Project # 2 Eco-Friendly Lawn Mower UNIMow John Gregorich & R. Pecen EET Senior Design project Operating a gas mower for 1 hr produces the same pollution as driving a car 1300 miles. Each weekend, about 54 M Americans mow their lawns, using 800 M gallons of gas per year. An EPA study found that ~ 9 % of some types of air pollutants nationwide come from lawn & garden equipment small engines. In 1 hr mowing, 26 different pollutants were found in the exhaust of the mowers. Does solar power help to mow? However, if the sample rate is high (10Hz or above), sensor nodes could not go to sleep and thus the lifetime is very limited.
