3 Introduction The main reaon of thi Energy Saving Brochure i to anwer the quetion whether invetment in renovation of engineering ytem like central heating, cooling or dometic hot water ytem are economically reponible? When can return on invetment be expected? The development of thi brochure i baed on our cutomer energy conumption before and after renovation collected during a period of multiple year. The information ha been obtained from energy bill iued by heat or electric energy upplier and i therefore reliable reference information that allow etimation of the effectivene of the renovation. When we analyzed the 18 preented cae, realitic cot were taken into conideration related to deigning, purchaing and mounting of the equipment a well a launch cot when applicable. All data wa collected in a uniform method and pecial attention given to the different tage of renovation. Each cae allow identification of what reult can be expected per tage of renovation (e.g. mounting thermotatic radiator valve or balancing valve, etc.) Upon receiving conent from our cutomer we have decided to provide precie information about citie and addree where renovation ha taken place. Firtly we would like to preent tranparent information to give the reader the poibility to check the preented data. Secondly to provide inight in the local cot for energy, and different price for deign, purchaing and intallation of the equipment. Pleae keep in mind that thee cot might differ from country to country. In order to make calculation and comparion of energy conumption we have ued pecialized method of converion (e.g. degree-day method) uually applied by energy auditor. The preented cae are grouped according to theme: Chapter 2: reult obtained during renovation of typical two-pipe heating ytem by mounting thermotatic radiator valve (RTD, RA and RTS) a well a automatic balancing valve (differential preure regulator of ASV type). The differential preure regulator provide a table working condition for thermotatic radiator valve, which help achieve additional energy reduction while providing high indoor comfort. Chapter 3: reult obtained during renovation of one-pipe heating ytem. Due to the pecific character of thee type of ytem, beide uing thermotatic radiator valve, different type of balancing valve ha been ued (AB-QM) which have been extended with thermotatic actuator (QT). With thi combination of product it i poible to control the flow in the rier and balancing i done by control of return temperature. Chapter 4: reult obtained from renovation of dometic hot water ytem by mounting multi-functional temperature control valve (MTCV). Thee valve provide thermotatic balancing of the ytem a well a reduction of the flow to an eential minimum in order to compenate heat loe and provide required temperature at the tap location. Chapter 5: reult obtained from renovation of cold water upply ytem in air conditioning ytem for air-handling unit (AHU) and fan coil unit (FCU). In thee ytem we have applied preure independent preure and control valve (AB-QM). Chapter 6: reult obtained from renovation in macro cale to how the amount of generated energy, which can have coniderable meaning for large, global project (e.g. project that are financed by government or thermo renovation fund). Modernization in macro cale include renovation of central heating ytem, dometic hot water ytem and ditrict heating ub tation. The return on invetment period that are preented vary from 6 month to 6 year depending on the application, building ize and ytem type. It i worth mentioning that high profitability of the mentioned invetment were achieved by the ue of Danfo product. We hope that the given example will help in the deciion making proce related to renovation. Danfo can ait you by recommending and offering the right olution for each tage in renovation to optimize heating & cooling ytem, improve the indoor comfort and achieve maximum energy aving. 3

It i very important to note that one pipe heating ytem, when ued with a by-pa on the radiator, that thi automatically mean that the radiator thermotat can only cloe the flow through the radiator. The next tep of renovation wa done in 22-23: wall iolation (1cm of polytyrene) and new window. Due to till relatively high energy conumption (compared to a traditional two-pipe ytem) in 29 the Building Society wa conidering to change the heating ytem to a two-pipe ytem or ue automatic, adjutable flow limiter on the rier with elf action thermotat (Danfo olution: AB-QM + QT).
