3 2 Introduction This document touches on the key issues that customers will face with the CRM 2013 upgrade announced by Microsoft. 3 Choices for Customers NOT on the Microsoft OnLine Portal (MOP) Customers who purchased CRM prior to 2012 may still be on the old platform, which is different from the MOP. You can opt to move to the new platform, or stay on the old platform. If you choose to stay on the old platform, starting on your anniversary date, ALL user licenses will be charged at the highest rate in effect! The lower priced options are not available on the old platform. The reality is that most users may not need the power that comes with the highest priced license, the Professional User License. So you are probably better off moving to the new platform, particularly since you may be forced to do so later! 4 Testing NEEDS TO BE DONE! It is IMPERATIVE that a competent technical resource tests your current CRM with the tools provided by Microsoft. This will make sure that the CRM is in technical compliance with the new coding rules that will be enforced. The tool will point to those parts of the CRM that need attention. The testing process is not time consuming, and could be completed in 10 minutes. That said addressing issues that get highlighted could be time consuming. If issues are found, then the actual upgrade date can be re-scheduled to accommodate the time needed for fixes. Be prepared, since putting the fixes in place could turn out to be an expensive proposition! EBS recognizes that this kind of expense provides no direct return, and is offering steep discounts to help fix problems encountered. Call to learn more. 4 5 Changes in How the Screens Look The new screens have the Process User Interface look and feel, which was introduced in late You can revert to your old screens, if desired. Here s an example of the old and the new. This change may cause bad vibes in the end user community and therefore, the introduction of these must be managed!! 6 6 New Subscription Levels and Costs The old method in which there was only 1 subscription level will become history on your Anniversary Date! 7 7 When to Decide on the New USLs? The upgrade to CRM 2013 is distinct, and independent from the need to decide on the User Subscription License (USL). In fact, you have to do this in two steps on different days. Step 1 Upgrade to CRM 2013 Step 2 Decide on USLs needed You will need to decide BEFORE your Anniversary Date comes up. If you don t, ALL licenses will get converted to the Professional level, whether you need that kind of access or not, and with it comes the price of the Professional License. So basically, the cost implications kick in on your Anniversary Date. 8 How You Can Control WHEN the Upgrade Will Take Place When you log into your CRM, you will notice that an Upgrade Date will have been pre-scheduled. Click on Learn More and then step through the screens to change the date on which you would like the upgrade done. See below. 9 9 Support from Microsoft Refer to the graphic in this section. 3 Levels of Support will be offered Subscription available to all at no additional charge Enhanced Additional $5/user/month Professional Direct Additional $9/user/month with a minimum of $1000/month. This has not been included in the graphic for simplicity. A higher level of support to be called Premier, is to be announced in the future Note that the service level for the default Subscription level is NEXT BUSINESS DAY for ANY severity level of the incident.
