1 Splashtop 2 Remote Desktop is an ios app that will let you stream Teach Town to an ipad (the company also makes an app for Android tablets) The first time you start up Splashtop Personal on your ipad you will be asked to create an account. Note: the steps would be the same if you are using an Android based tablet with the Splashtop 2 Remote Desktop for Android App. Splashtop 2 Remote Desktop Personal Page 1

3 Agree to Terms After clicking Create Account you will get an Agreement window. You are given the option to View the Terms before agreeing, or clicking I agree. If you View Terms first after viewing them you will again be given the chance to agree or disagree. You must agree to the terms to use the app. Splashtop 2 Remote Desktop Personal Page 3

4 Account Created Once you agree to the terms a new window will appear. This window is cueing you to go to the Splashtop Website and download Splashtop Streamer onto your computer. This is a free program that needs to be installed on the computer you will be using to run Teach Town. Click on Continue. Splashtop 2 Remote Desktop Personal Page 4

5 Logging in to the Splashtop App After you are notified that you have an account you will be asked to log into you Splashtop Account. You created the account in the previous steps, now you will actually be signing into the app. 1) Your address is already filled in 2) enter your password. Splashtop 2 Remote Desktop Personal Page 5

6 Signing into the Splashtop Remote Desktop app Enter your password and click on the Log In button. Note you have the option of keeping logged in to this account by placing a checkmark in the Stay logged in box. 7 Reminder After clicking Log In during the previous step you will get a reminder to get the Streamer Application for your desktop computer(s). Click on the Go button. Splashtop 2 Remote Desktop Personal Page 7

8 Connecting with your desktop computer You will see this screen when the app is not able to connect with your computer. You must have Splashtop Streamer installed and running for the programs to talk to each other. Splashtop 2 Remote Desktop Personal Page 8

9 Window showing previously paired computer(s) when the Streamer is not turned on at the desktop After the first successful pairing of the two, desktop and ipad, the computer(s) will appear in a list but be greyed out if the Streamer isn't running on the desktop computer. 10 Listing of Paired Computer When Splashtop Remote Desktop and the Splashtop Streamer on the desktop have paired the computer icon in the list turns color. This indicates there is an active connection and clicking on this colorized icon will begin the process of letting you see the computer's desktop. Splashtop 2 Remote Desktop Personal Page 10

11 Enter Security Code If you set a computer security code when you set up the Splashtop Streamer on your desktop computer enter that same code in this window. Splashtop 2 Remote Desktop Personal Page 11

12 Opening Window When you successfully pair the tablet running Splashtop Remote Desktop app and the desktop computer running Splashtop Streamer you will see this window illustrating the various gestures you can use when controlling your desktop from this app. Click Continue to move away from this help screen. Note: You can bypass seeing these hints in the future by removing the checkmark from the Show Hints box. Splashtop 2 Remote Desktop Personal Page 12

13 Tablet Screen mirrors Desktop Screen When the tablet (ipad/android) and the host computer are paired the screen on the tablet will be the same as the screen on the laptop/desktop computer. Control of applications, window arrangement etc. can be done from either device. The teacher can complete the TeachTown login in process as usual on the desktop computer and the student can interact with the TeachTown program on the tablet and respond through touching the tablet screen. Additional Notes Splashtop 2 Desktop Remote Personal has an in app purchase option that wasn't present in the original Splashtop app. It is not necessary to add these options to use the app as a means of accessing Teach Town on a tablet device such as an ipad. 14 Anywhere Access Pack When you first use the app you will be asked to sign up for the Anywhere Access Pack and/or the Productivity Pack. Neither of these is necessary to use the app for the purpose of streaming Teach Town to an ipad from a desktop. To leave this screen click the left pointing arrow in the upper left hand corner. This screen can also appear if the control bar icon is clicked and one of the optional add-on tools is selected. The following steps illustrate this. Splashtop 2 Remote Desktop Personal Page 14

15 Optional Add-on Tools There are three Optional Add-On Tools that are accessed through the Control Bar Icon is clicked. These optional tool are 1) White Board 2) Anywhere Access Pack and 3) Configurable Shortcuts and Gamepad Splashtop 2 Remote Desktop Personal Page 15
