E-NSSA (Erie-Niagara School Superintendents Association): the top 3 graduating seniors were honored at this year's Annual Scholastic Achievement Recognition Dinner. More than 400 students, educators, and business people participated at this event, and the girls were given a specially commissioned crystal bison award and an inspiring message from a guest speaker. HERFF JONES BELIEVE IN YOU PRINCIPAL S CERTIFICATE OF RECOGNITION Sarah Macro The Herff Jones Believe in You Certificate of Recognition is presented to Sarah Macro for demonstrated ability to combine academic excellence and exemplary leadership in school and community activities. INDEPENDENT HEALTH & BUSINESS FIRST COMMUNITY ALL-STAR Elizabeth Hagerty The 2015 Community All-Star Award recognizes a student who has made a positive difference in the lives of people here at school and in the community. For the seventh consecutive year, Independent Health is recognizing students throughout Western New York who are making a difference. 2 GUIDANCE (continued) NYS COMPTROLLER S STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT AWARD Mariah Parker, Alessia Randazzo The New York State Comptroller s Student Achievement Awards are presented each year to students who have excelled academically and have also shown leadership potential by volunteering their time to serve the school or community. Comptroller DiNapoli sends his sincere congratulations to Mariah Parker and Alessia Randazzo and his best wishes to the graduating class of NIAGARA UNIVERSITY ST. VINCENT DE PAUL MEDAL Niagara University is proud to announce a new scholarship that will recognize extraordinary leadership and service. The St. Vincent de Paul Medal has been created in the Vincentian tradition of building organizational structures designed to serve the community and improve overall quality of life. St. Vincent de Paul, a 17th century Catholic priest, inspired and organized his contemporaries to serve the poor and oppressed. In this spirit, NU strives to develop leaders who will make a difference in their local communities and the larger world. The St. Vincent de Paul Medal awards a four-year scholarship of $1,000 per year. The recipient of the St. Vincent de Paul Medal is: Jenna Bruno. OHIO UNIVERSITY SIGNATURE AWARDS PROGRAM Jocelyn Collura The scholarship is awarded to a student in recognition of excellence in academic endeavors and demonstrated talent. TRIPLE C AWARD Hannah Davis & Briana Hansen The Attorney General's Triple C Awards program recognizes the Courage, Character, and Commitment of New York State's outstanding students. These certificates are presented to Hannah Davis and Briana Hansen in recognition of their tremendous commitment to bettering themselves, their school, and their communities; their strength of character which has helped achieve goals and will guide them in making the right decisions in the future; and their remarkable courage which will aid them in meeting all of the challenges ahead. She dedicated hours of community service this year. We would like to present Hannah Davis with the Carole Sue Kmidowski Memorial Service Award. Mother Magdalen Daemen Award (50+ hours each of her 4 years at SHA) The Sisters of St. Francis of Penance and Christian Charity, started with God's call to one woman, Mother Magdalen Daemen, who was inspired by the lives of St. Francis of Assisi and his close follower, St. Clare of Assisi. To quote Mother Magdalen Daemen "This good work is not my doing. I am quite unable to carry out such a thing or even to think it through. It is God who inspired me with this thought. This is God s work and God will provide." In honor of Mother Magdalen Daemen's vision of service to the poor, we institute a new award tonight. The Mother Magdalen Daemen Award will be given to any Senior who has completed 50 or more hours of community service in each of her 4 years at Sacred Heart Academy. Each award recipient will receive a framed 4x6 print of Mother Magdalen Daemen. She has been involved with Mock Trial, National Honor Society, and has been a class officer. She is ranked third in the class. Combine her excellence in the classroom with her leadership on the field and tennis court and you have a very deserving Senior Athlete of the Year congratulations to Victoria Rucinski.
