Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Institute for the Physically Handicapped is recognized by the University of Delhi. One of the main objectives of this Institute is to undertake the training of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Prosthetics, Orthotics and other such professionals needed for providing services to the disabled persons. Q 2. What are the courses offered by Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Institute for the Physically Handicapped? Ans. Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Institute for the Physically Handicapped offers the following courses: S. NO. COURSE DURATION 1. Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) 4 ½ years 2. Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT) 4 ½ years 3. Bachelor of Prosthetics & Orthotics (BPO) 4 ½ years Q 3. What is Physiotherapy (B.P.T)? Ans. Physiotherapy is a client oriented health care profession that deals with therapeutic management of body dysfunction by physical modalities. Q 4. What is Occupational Therapy (B.O.T)? Ans. Occupational Therapy is also a health care profession that deals with therapeutic management of various neuromuscular dysfunctions and mental disorders including mental retardation. Q 5. What is Prosthetics & Orthotics? Ans. Prosthetics & Orthotics is a profession that deals with fabrication and fitment of rehabilitation aids and appliance for the disabled persons. Q 6. When can one obtain the admission form for this course? Ans. The application forms shall be out tentatively in the month of April, as per the notification of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Institute for the Physically Handicapped (PDUIPH), University of Delhi. Q 7. What is the last date for the submission of the admission form? Ans. The last date of submitting the application form tentatively is in the month of May, as per the notification of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Institute for the Physically Handicapped (PDUIPH) University of Delhi. Q 8.What is the minimum eligibility for admission to these courses?

The candidates seeking admission to the course of BPT, BOT and BPT must have passed one of the following examinations: (i) (ii) (iii) (iv) Senior School Certificate Examination of the C.B.S.E. or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English for BPT/BOT/BPO and Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English (PCME) for BPO provided the student has passed in each subject separately. Indian School Certificate Examination of the council for the Indian school certificate examination or equivalent with PCB for BPT/BOT and PCBE/ PCME for BPO. Intermediate/Pre- Medical Examination or equivalent with PCBE for BPT/BOT and PCBE/PCME for BPO. The candidates who have passed one of the above examinations with PCME are eligible only for BPO course. Q 9. What is the minimum percentage of marks required in these examinations? Ans. The candidates should have a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in PCBE/PCME for General and 45% for SC/ST/PH and CWAPP (Children of War Widows). Q 10. What is the minimum age for this course? Ans. The candidates should have completed seventeen (17) years of age on or before the admission date. Q 11. What is the maximum age for this course? Ans. The maximum age limit is twenty-three (23) years for General category & others and 28 years for SC/ST/PH category candidates. Q 12. Who are not eligible for the entrance test? Ans. The candidates who have passed their 10+2 examination before the year and have discontinued their regular studies for more than 3 years are not eligible to appear in the entrance test. Q.13. What is the basis of admission for this course? Ans. The selection of candidates for admission to BPT/BOT/BPO shall be made on the basis of merit in the Entrance Test. Q 14. Is there any common entrance test conducted for these courses? Ans. Yes, there is a Common Entrance Test for BOT, BPT and BPO courses which shall be conducted by Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Institute for the physically handicapped as per the directions of University of Delhi. Q 15. What is the duration for the Entrance test for these courses? Ans. The test duration for this Entrance Test is three hours. Q 16. What is the structure of the Entrance test for these courses?

3 Ans. The Entrance test consist of multiple choice questions, objective type questions which are based on Senior Secondary School Certificate(10+2) curriculum of CBSE or its equivalent. Q.17. What is the scheme of the Entrance Test? Ans. There is one question paper consisting of four parts A, B, C, and D as mentioned below: Part Subject Total Questions A. Physics 50 B. Chemistry 50 C. Biology/Mathematics 50 D. General Knowledge and English 50 Q 18. Is this Entrance test compulsory for every student? Ans. Yes, all Indian candidates who apply for admission to the courses of BPT, BOT, and BPO shall have to appear in the entrance tests. Q 19. When is the Entrance Test conducted? Ans. The Common Entrance test is conducted in the month of June or July every year by the South campus of University of Delhi as per the notification. Q 20. How many seats are available in these courses? Ans. The total number of seats in these courses is given below: Occupational Therapy & Physiotherapy Bachelor of Prosthetics & Orthotics Q. 21. What is the distribution of seats for each course in each category? Ans. The distribution of seats for each course is as follow: Course Total Seats General SC ST PH OBC STNA* CWAPP* * FN *** BPT BOT BPO Total STNA* States where such training facilities are not available. CWAPP** Children of War Widows and Army personnel who have died or become disabled during hostilities

4 FN*** Foreign Nationals(Such students should apply through Embassies, they are not required to appear in Entrance Test) Q 22. What is the basis of reservation for admission in these courses? Ans. The reservation shall be given as per the norms of University of Delhi that are as follows: (i) 15% and & 7.5% seats are reserved for the candidate s belongings to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) respectively. (ii) 27% seats are reserved for the candidate s belongings to OBC category. (iii) 2 seats in each BPT & BOT and 1 seat in BPO courses has been reserved for the students With Physical Disabilities (PH). (iv) 2 seats in each BPT & BOT and 1 seat in BPO courses are reserved for Widows/ Children of officers and men of Armed forces including Para military Personnel who have been killed/ disabled while on duty in War onwards. Q 23. Is there any reservation for foreign students for these courses in University of Delhi? Ans. Two seats each in BPT and BOT shall be reserved for foreign nationals provided they fulfill the minimum eligibility conditions and have passed the last qualifying examination (i.e. equivalent to 10+2) from a recognized Foreign University/ Board (except from Bhutan). Q.24. Who is considered as STNA student? Ans. The students who belong from the states where similar teaching facilities are not available are considered as STNA students. 3 seats each in Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy courses are reserved for the candidates coming from the States/UTs where similar teaching facilities are not available, provided they secure a place in the merit list based on the Entrance Test. Q.25. How can a STNA candidate become eligible for the admission? Ans. A candidate shall have to produce a certificate from Commissioner/Secretary of the State Govt. in the Health or Welfare department regarding non availability of such teaching facilities in their states to become eligible for consideration under this category. Q 26. Which are the states under STNA category? Ans. The list of States/UTs as provided by Ministry of Social justice & Empowerment is as follows: (i) Andaman & Nicobar Islands (ii) Arunachal Pradesh (iii) Assam (iv) Daman & Diu (v) Himachal Pradesh (vi) Jammu & Kashmir (vii) Jharkhand (viii) Lakshadweep

5 (ix) (x) (xi) (xii) Manipur Nagaland Sikkim Tripura ** The above list is likely to be revised. Q 27. What happens if the reserved seats for STNA /CWAPP & FN categories are not filled? Ans. In case the eligible candidate belonging to STNA /CWAPP & FN categories are not available, the seats shall be treated unreserved and candidates from the General category shall be considered against such seats in order of merit. Q 28. What is the process of cancellation of the application form? Ans. If any student seeking admission on wrong information with respect to age, category, subject, passing percentage of marks secured in last School/College/University, etc., then his admission shall be cancelled at any time whenever it comes to the notice of the University / Institute during the course. Q. 29 How can a candidate obtain the application form for these courses? Ans. The Prospectus cum application form can be obtained by depositing a pay order/demand draft of Rs.500/- for General and OBC Category & Rs.250/- for SC/ST & PH candidates drawn in favour of Director, Pt. Deen Dayal Institute for the Physically Handicapped payable at New Delhi. Prospectus will be available on Sale counter in Accounts Section of Institute on all working days. The application form with Prospectus can also be downloaded from the website of the Institute i.e. However, such application forms should be submitted along with a Bank Draft of Rs.550/- for General and OBC Category and Rs.300/- for SC/ST & PH candidates. Q 30. Is there any provision for online application for these courses? Ans. No, there is no provision for Online Application for these courses. However, a candidate can download the application form from the website Q.31.What are the documents required at the time of admission? Ans. The documents required at the time of admission are as under: (i) Date of Birth Certificate, Matriculation, Senior Secondary Certificate issued by Board/ University. (ii) Certificate from the prescribed competent Authority for the Candidate seeking admission under the reserved categories. (iii) Certificate of good conduct from the School/College/University last attended. (iv) Marks Sheet of 12 th standard board examination of 10+2 scheme. (v) 3 recent colored passport size photographs. (vi) Income certificate of the parents/guardian to be produced & submitted at the time of admission. (vii) Self addressed Acknowledgement Card. (viii) Admit Card and Identity Card duly signed by candidate in running/flowing handwriting. (ix) Self-addressed unstamped envelope (12 X 28 cm) for receiving Admit Card. (x) Declaration on Application form duly signed by the applicant as well as Father/ Mother/Husband/Guardian of the candidate. (xi) Affidavit in support of information given about gap years. (xii) The envelope containing application form should be superscripted with Application for entrance Test of BPT/BOT/BPO.

6 Q.32. What is the fee structure for these courses? Ans. The fee structure for the courses in total shall amount to; Total Fees Rs.22,400/- Note: Hostel Fee: Rs.7200/- annum is to be deposited only on allotment of hostel. *Fee is subject to change. Q.33 Is there any short-term course offered by Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Institute for the Physically Handicapped? Ans. The Institute is conducting short term training programs to update the knowledge of the professionals and personnel working in the field of rehabilitation. The orientation & awareness programs are also conducted to make different group of people aware of the causes and prevention of disabilities, medical, social, educational and vocational needs of the disabled and about the facilities available for the disabled. Q.34. Is there any assistance scheme for disabled persons at Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Institute for the Physically Handicapped? Ans. The Institute is providing prosthetic, Orthotic & other Rehabilitation aids under the Scheme of Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase/Fitting of Aids/Appliances (ADIP Scheme) of the Govt. of India at minimum costs. The main objective of the Scheme is to assist the needy disabled persons in procuring durable, sophisticated and scientifically manufactured, modern, standard aids and appliances that can promote their physical, social and psychological rehabilitation, by reducing the effects of disabilities and enhance their economic potential. Q.35 Who shall be eligible for assistance under ADIP Scheme? Ans. A person with disabilities fulfilling following conditions would be eligible for assistance under ADIP Scheme through authorized agencies: (i)he/she should be an Indian citizen of any age. (ii) He/she should be certified by a Registered Medical Practitioner that he/she is disabled and fit to use prescribed aid/appliance. (iii) A Person who is employed/self-employed or getting pension and whose monthly income from all sources does not exceed Rs.10, 000/- per month. (iv)in case of dependents, the income of parents/guardians should not exceed Rs.10,000/- per month. (v) Those persons who have not received assistance from the Government, local bodies and Non- Official Organizations during the last 3 years for the same purpose. However, for children below 12 years of age this limit would be 1 year.

7 Q. 36. What is the procedure for the hostel admission? Ans. (i) Limited accommodation is available in the institute hostel to the outstation candidates depending upon the vacancy. (ii) Residents of Delhi shall not be provided Hostel Seats. Hotel accommodation shall be allocated on annual basis. (iii) Hostellers are governed by the rules and regulations as laid down in the hostel manual. (iv) Hostel Fee of Rs.7, 200/- per annum shall be levied only on allotment of hostel. (v) Failed student /Ex-students shall not be allowed to stay in hostel. However, Re-allotment to failed students may be considered on their passing of annual/supplementary examination, subject to availability of vacant seats in the hostel. (vi) In case seats are not available in the Institute hostel, the candidates shall have to make their own arrangement to stay in Delhi. *Fee is subject to change.
