1 Download and Installation Instructions for Kindle Downloadable ebooks for BlackBerry For BlackBerry Z10 Devices Overview With the recent release of the Amazon Kindle software for the BlackBerry Z10 device, the Z10 can now natively support the Carswell Kindle Downloadable ebooks for BlackBerry. This document provides detailed instructions on how to download and install the Amazon Kindle software to your BlackBerry Z10 device, downloading the Kindle ebook file to your PC, transfer it to your device, and then viewing the file using the Kindle software. 2 A Install the Amazon Kindle App on your BB10 Device 1. On your BB10 Device, launch the Blackberry World App Marketplace. The Blackberry World icon is a black circle outlined in white imprinted with the Blackberry logo. Figure 1 - Launch Blackberry World 2. 4 7. Launch the Kindle App and then login with your Amazon account to register your device. If you do not have an Amazon account, use the link provided to create one. While the Carswell.mobi books are not delivered through Amazon, registration is required to use the App. Figure 7 - Login to Register with Kindle 8. The Kindle App will then display the Home screen. Switch the view to the On Device screen where your ebook will appear in a future step. Figure 8 - The active Kindle App. Click on the On Device Tab 4

5 B - Download your copy of the.mobi ebook 9. Navigate to the Carswell Downloadable ebook website at website and login using the login name and password sent to you by Select the product title that you wish to download from the list of titles on the left hand side. In the main panel, click on the Launch Product button that appears. 11. Click on the Download Button appearing on the launch page for the title you have access to. 12. You will be asked to accept the terms of the Subscriber Licence for the Carswell's ebook product by clicking on I Agree. 13. A file download of the Kindle ebook will be initiated. Save the file to your local system. Note the location to which the file is saved so that you can retrieve it in step 18. C - Copy your Kindle ebook to the \misc\android\kindle folder on your Blackberry BB10 device Note: In order for the Kindle ebook to function properly on the Blackberry BB10 device, the file must reside in the exact folder location described below on the device. If the file is copied elsewhere, the Kindle software will not find and display the ebook. 14. Using a USB cable, connect your device to the PC to which you downloaded the Kindle ebook.mobi file in section B. 15. Your computer will recognize the device and will map a new drive to show the file contents of your device. 16. Open Windows Explore, and navigate to the new drive representing your Blackberry BB10 device. 17. Expand the folders in the drive to x:\misc\android\kindle, where x represents the new drive letter assigned to your device when you connected your USB cable. The folder location will look similar to the following in Windows Explorer: 5

7 19. The ebook will now appear on your device. To launch the ebook, tap on the ebook icon. 8 To bring up the options menu, first swipe down from the top. Figure 15 - Tap on the more icon of the options tabs to display the full Kindle menu The full Kindle menu provides additional navigation items, including the Back navigation (active after following a link), bookmarks, Go To (which allows you to jump to the Cover, the Table of Contents, or the Beginning of the ebook, and View Options, which you can use to change the font size and line spacing. 8
