1 ADAA s Resources for Professionals Portal User Guide Overview The ADAA website is built on top of the Drupal platform. Drupal is a cuttingedge open source CMS engine that powers sites all over the world. The Resources for Professionals portal (RFP) is a section of the site specifically for content aimed at professionals. There a few common Drupal terms to be aware of when managing this section and generally the entire ADAA site. Knowing these will help you understand its basic functionality. You may know much or all this already since the ADAA site has existed on Drupal for many years. 1 Content Types are different classes of information types in Drupal that eventually define different pages. These are defined by the developers of the site. For example, on this site, there are content types for x, y, z, pages, and posts. Having different content types allows us to have different fields for different types of pages on the site. Ben Freda Consulting, LLC ~ info@benfredaconsulting.com

2 2 Blocks are multipurpose chunks of content that may be utilized throughout the site. They may be controlled by a site admin in the blocks area or coded into the site s template by a web developer. Examples of blocks on this site are E-News Brief, Upcoming, and Quick Links. You ll find those last 3 on the RFP landing page. 3 Modules are packages of code written by Drupal developers to extend and customize the functionality of a basic Drupal site. There are 1000s of modules to pick and choose from. 4 Taxonomies like tags and categories come standard with Drupal. We can add new taxonomies as needed. An example of a custom taxonomy on this site is Anxiety Disorder. 5 URL Aliases are used to create custom URLs that are typically more user-friendly. All the RFP pages are intended to begin their url alias the same way: resources-professionals/* The * is a wildcard. This means you can replace it with anything you want. Creating Content This site is divided up into various content types that feed content to various pages in the RFP section. Below is a full list of all of the content types used in the portal, their functions, and how to use them. A few items to note within this section: 1. On each content creation/editing screen, there is a set of utility tabs at the bottom of the screen. Largely, the information within these tabs is for advanced customization of content and may be ignored. Information that can be easily modified within that area include:! 3 Menu Settings controls the Menu Link title and where in the menu it belongs. After content is a assigned to a menu it can be moved around in the backend Menu management area. Revision Information is where you can log notes about any revisions you ve made to the content URL path settings is where you can add a custom url File Attachments is where you can attach files Printer, and PDF versions Comment Settings controls if and how users may comment URL Redirects is where you can set any redirects to this page if needed Authoring Information is used to modify which user owns the content Publishing Options controls if the content is published or not. 2. You can easily add content from the admin toolbar at the top of the screen Image Collage This is used to create the images in grid on the RFP landing page. 4 Pages are used for static content like Membership Overview or Education. Important fields in this content type are: Set page width: this field gives you control over whether the page is narrow (has the right sidebar) or wide (does not have the right sidebar) Body: The wysiwyg editor here is the same as on the rest of the site. But, there are 2 styles specific to the RFP section. These are Intro and Article Listing Item. Intro is used for intro text on pages like Membership Overview where the first paragraph on the page uses a unique style. Article Listing Item is used when you want to manually enter a listing on your page of podcasts, pages, or any other content. It allows you style the titles in those listings. In addition, when inserting images into the body of a page, you can use the image title field to add a caption. You will not see the caption in the wysiwyg editor, but will see it on the front end of the site. This is because the caption is loaded by a jquery script.! 5 A quick note. Membership Overview and Education have some blocks in the Content Bottom region. Unlike other pages on the site, these blocks appear mostly in columns.! Ben Freda Consulting, LLC ~ info@benfredaconsulting.com! 5

6 Conference Important fields in conference are: Title Subtitle Image Date Location City, State Register Link Submit Abstract Link Submit Poster Link Annoucements: a body field where you can type in any announcements 4 Text areas: Used for info such as Why Attend? Highlights, Attendee Stories, and Featured Stories. Podcasts The only change to this content type is the addition of the Anxiety Disorder vocabulary.! 7 Videos (YouTube or Vimeo) The only change to this content type is the addition of the Anxiety Disorder vocabulary. Videos (Non-embed) The only change to this content type is the addition of the Anxiety Disorder vocabulary. Announcement This is used to feed announcements to the anxiety disorder pages and to the announcement listing page. The important fields here are: Date Thumbnail Anxiety Disorder Announcement: this body field contains the text of the announcement Resource This is used to feed resource links to disorder pages!
