3 E lementary Faith Formation Thank you to those of you who have registered your child(ren) for next year s faith formation. It really helps us to get organized before the start of the new program year. If you have not already registered, please do so either by ing Terry to get the registration forms, downloading them off our parish website, or coming into the office and picking them up. I am very grateful! Next year s sacramental prep family retreats are from 10:30 to noon (please correct your calendars). Join us to learn what our new projects are, and what you can do to help. The Social Justice members will be taking a break from meetings over the summer, so we will not be gathering this Tuesday. However, we would like to pass on news of an interesting opportunity. The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is hosting several sessions on Economic Inequality: From Theory to Therapy. These will be interactive sessions on income inequality in the United States and how we can work to solve it. They will be held in the fellowship hall at 2201 Lawton Street in SLO on July 8 and 22, August 12 and 22, and Sept. 9 & 23. All who are interested in creating a new narrative and confronting prevailing attitudes toward wealth inequality are welcome at attend one or more sessions. 5 REFLECTION OF THE WEEK July 5, th Sunday in Ordinary Time Our hearts go out to Jesus in this gospel because we feel his pain when his own family and friends reject him. The news of Jesus miracles and healings had by now spread throughout the region and when he returned to Nazareth to teach in the synagogue, the people there were unbelieving. How, they wondered, could someone as common as a laborer have such authority from God? Sadly, Jesus could not do the wondrous work of God in his own home town. There are not further times recorded in the gospels that Jesus entered another synagogue after the rejection he experienced in Nazareth.
