Choose one of two of the park s guided cave tours yearround. Enjoy a subterranean adventure, created by nature over millions of years. Jacket and comfortable walking shoes recommended. Choose either of the following public tours. For the shorter tour, add a nature walk to your itinerary. Limit to first 25 people. Cascade Cave : ¾ mile, 75 minutes, w/ 225 stairs X-Cave : 1/4 mile, 45 minutes, w/ 75 stairs 1:30PM 4:00PM STAR Theater Enjoy a 3-D laser digital show in the comfort of Morehead s Star Theater Planetarium. Carpool to Morehead s campus from Hampton Inn. Show begins at 2pm. 2:00PM 4:00PM Rowan County Historic Walking Tour Carpool 5 minutes to the Kentucky Center for Traditional Music where the tour will begin. Tour guide will provide a walking tour of Morehead, relaying tales of the Tolliver/Martin Feud and a short musical performance. This hands on workshop covers a variety of numbering techniques for museum collections. Using practice materials, participants will receive hands-on experience on a variety of materials including textiles, furniture, paper, ceramics, glass and metal with information on what and what not to do when labeling an item.

Topics include safe handling, innovative storage techniques, preparing costumes and flat textiles for storage or exhibition, proper environments for display and storage, non-invasive methods of cleaning, and appropriate archival materials and supplies. Silent Auction Closes Dinner Tuesday, June 24, :30AM 9:00PM - 10:30PM Registration Opens, Trade Show Booths open Read it or Weep - Part 1 Workshop Presented by Julie Maio Kemper, Senior Curator, Kentucky Historical Society. This workshop covers best practices and new ideas for exhibit labels and text. Visitor engagement with exhibits depend on exhibit labels and panels. Attendees will learn to consider audience, best practices for writing, layout and editing, and opportunities new technologies offer museums and historic/heritage sites. Learn about tone, layout, new technologies and more. Bring a success story to share and a photograph of one artifact to write a label.
4 Bourbon, Heritage Tourism & the Jack Jouett Archaeology Project - Presented by Nick Laracuente, Jack Jouette Archaeology Project Director, Woodford County Heritage Committee and Craig Potts, Executive Director, Kentucky Heritage Council and State Historic Preservation Office. The heritage component of the bourbon industry has proven to be a critical piece to the industry's success. Examples of bourbon related heritage tourism and the Jack Jouett Archaeology Program will be used as case studies for a new way to engage this theme highlighting the positive connections between sites and communities that have contributed to the success of bourbon related heritage tourism efforts in Kentucky while meeting the educational goals of a historic house museum. 10:30PM-11:00PM Break ; Trade Show Booths open 11:00PM-12:30PM Read it or Weep - Part 2 Workshop Continued Boost your Economic Engine: Synchronizing the Gears of Heritage Tourism. Presented by Vicki Birenberg, Certified Local Government Program and Planning Coordinator, Kentucky Heritage Council. Heritage tourism generates more money per visitor than other types of tourism, and travel industry research confirms that cultural and heritage tourism is one of the fastest growing segments of the tourism industry.
