3 Executive Summary Mission Statement We empower middleschoolers to find innovative solutions, learn business skills, and validate their projects by sourcing funding with college mentors. Description We target middleschoolers to bridge the classroom and the real world by teaching awareness and intuitive problem solving. The process is to find innovative solutions, seize opportunities, and become self-starters. We strive to collaborate with corporations, university students, start-ups, academic faculty, and local middle schools to take a holistic approach to targeting educational needs. Components Empower: Students often are not aware of how much they can do at such a young age. The empower stage is about inspiration; we motivate students to undertsand that they are capable of doing this at young age. This stage also focuses on looking at problems from a different perspective using the ideation framework. We have students get into brainstorming groups and use canvases to actively problem solve. Create: Now that the students have an idea, we give them tools to execute and make their ideas tangible. We have college mentors coach the students to develop a marketing commercial, a prototype, proof of concept, and a business presentation to sell their ideas. Validate: After they have created, we validate the whole process real by getting them funding, through crowdfunding and corporate mentors. The importance of implementation and feasibility is stressed here; the crowd funding platform strives to validate how good their ideas are but also shows the whole process through this platform.
