1 Construction Industry Scheme The scope of construction operations - list of included and excluded operations The list gives some guidance on which types of construction work are within the scheme and which are not. If a contract includes some work which is within and some outside the scheme then all payments made under that contract will be caught by the scheme The list is not exhaustive - if you are unsure whether work is within the scope of the legislation, contact Charles House Sevices ( ) OPERATIONS INCLUDED OPERATIONS EXCLUDED PLANNING PLANNING None. None. SITE PREPARATION SITE PREPARATION Demolition of, for example, buildings, structures, tree-felling. Delivery of materials. Preparation of site & site clearance, earth-moving on site, excavation, Transport of spoil from site. tunneling & boring. Removing asbestos sheets and timber purlins. Driver of digger on site all the time moving materials about. Driver delivering from shop to site. Dismantling & disposal of asbestos bus shelter. Traveling between sites delivering to sites. Plant hire for Agricultural use. (digger with operator) Leveling of site. Clear out drainage.

2 OPERATIONS INCLUDED OPERATIONS EXCLUDED CONSTRUCTION CONSTRUCTION Preparation & laying of foundations & piling. Manufacture or off-site fabrication of components or equipment, materials, plant or machinery & delivery of these to the site. For example: - traditional building materials prefabricated beams & panels ready-mixed concrete Delivery of mobile classroom. Actual construction, alteration or repair of a permanent or temporary (however long on site) building or civil, chemical or other industrial engineering work or industrial plant or structure forming part of the land. For example: Delivery & installation of refurbished mobile classrooms storage tanks silos pylons cranes or derricks pumps Thatching roofs. Repairing roof leaks. Running of site facilities such as canteens, hostels, offices, toilets & medical centres. Insulation of floodlighting. Construction, repair & resurfacing of roads & bridges, including white lining. Delivery of road-making materials

Painting & decorating the internal or external surfaces of any building. Decorative painting. (e.g. school playgrounds, football/netball pitches, art work, Hopscotch etc.) Manufacture, delivery & installation of seating, blinds & shutters. Supply & fit polycarbonate sheeting. Testing electrical appliances. Microwave leakage testing. Manufacture, installation & repair of artistic works (for example, sculptures & murals) which are wholly decorative in nature (not functional items caught by the scheme which incidentally have artistic merit). Manufacture & installation of solar, blackout or anti-shatter film.
