What happened when Jeff Taylor dreamt of an oversized online bulletin board: Where does the name Monster, which in Germany is not always associated with positive ideas, actually come from? Well, legend says this name can be traced back to a dream Monster s founder Jeff Taylor had during the early days of the Internet. He woke up one night after he had dreamt of some kind of bulletin board on which companies posted their job offers and job seekers their CVs. A really huge bulletin board is called monster board in American English so the company name was born. This dream resulted in one of the largest employment websites with about 5,000 employees worldwide, more than 350 of them working in Germany.

3 oday, Monster is far more than a mere career portal. Job seekers may also find information on industrial law, explanations of job titles, salary analyses and further advice on jobs and carrier. When employers contact Monster for the first time, they usually just post a job offer on the website, but more and more employers are starting to use the services provided by Monster when recruiting new employees. These services range from the possibility of pre-screening candidates as they apply to the organisation of complete assessment centres. Our mission at Monster is to do everything to provide qualified job seekers with attractive offers from employers across all industries, explains Junior PR Manager Ramona Kesch. Monster s service portfolio also comprises IT-based job applicant management systems, which are intended for companies, for example, to facilitate a better control of the entire recruiting process and shorten the time to hire. Domain Management at monster.de Kai Horlbeck develops and supervises such job applicant management systems for customers. Domain management is therefore only marginally important to him, despite being very important for the company as part of its international brand strategy. At the beginning, the effort he had to put into domain management was rather substantial, around 2 to 3 days a week. But this can only partly be contributed to the fact that the whole division was reorganised during that time. In his opinion the fact that now he only needs to spend 1 to 2 hours a week on it can largely be attributed to the fact that 123domain.eu is an optimum domain management partner. During Monster s first attempts to centralize the domain name portfolio, the company located in Dortmund had not been under discussion. Big internet service providers were invited to pitch first. But after having worked together with one of these companies for a while, it became clear that even to them domain management was just of marginal importance. The competence in this particular field was missing and this kept causing problems, states Kai Horlbeck. This is totally different with 123domain.eu. Instead of receiving many invoices in different languages and currencies from the different registries, Monster then receives one invoice issued in Euros from 123domain.eu. This means that 123domain.eu not only takes the exchange rate risk, but also is the only one communicating with the registries. In addition, 123domain.eu takes care that no domain name gets lost as registrations must usually be renewed at the registry at fixed intervals. It is therefore necessary to constantly observe the entire domain name portfolio. I don t have to burden myself with this, Kai Horlbeck says happily. 123domain.eu has everything under control, informs us and renews the registrations automatically if they hear nothing to the contrary. This auto-renewal ensures that the domain name is optimally secured. When Monster moved from Bad Homburg to the new company building at Eschborn, 123domain.eu was happy to support them again. While moving, the monsters were provided with an emergency telephone number reachable 24 hours a day and on weekends to ensure that the DNS servers could be moved without any problems. Asking Kai Horlbeck about the intentions he has concerning the future cooperation between Monster and 123domain.eu, he says: I cannot imagine a better cooperation with any other service provider.
