Downer employs about 20,000 people, primarily in Australia and New Zealand, with over 2,000 employees in Victoria across 39 sites and projects. 4 Rail We have over 100 years experience delivering total rail asset solutions for our passenger and freight customers, employing more than 1,400 people at approximately 20 sites across Australia. Downer in Victoria

5 We help our customers to ensure they get the most out of their investment in rail assets. We have an extensive national footprint in key rail locations and centres of excellence in: Newport (Victoria); Cardiff (NSW); Maryborough (Queensland); and Malaga (Western Australia). Our through-life-support services include a 24-hour Fleet Control Centre. We are committed to innovation and use technology to reliably and safely extend maintenance cycles and increase the time trains spend in service. Passenger We have delivered more than 1,150 passenger cars to Australian operators, including: the Waratah Train Project (NSW), the largest ever rolling stock project in Australia; Millennium trains (NSW); all the electric passenger cars for Brisbane and Perth; and Tilt Trains (Queensland). Freight We have extensive experience in the design, customisation and delivery of diesel-electric freight locomotives, wagons and support vehicles throughout Australia. Downer s freight rail customers include Pacific National, Aurizon, BHP Billiton, Fortescue Metals Group, Genesee & Wyoming, SCT Logistics, Whitehaven, SSR, CFCLA, Qube and Rio Tinto. Light Rail The Keolis Downer joint venture operates and maintains the world s largest light rail network, Yarra Trams in Melbourne. Keolis Downer also operates and maintains the Gold Coast light rail and, in March 2015, acquired Australian Transit Enterprises (ATE), one of Australia s leading bus operators. Following the acquisition of ATE, Keolis Downer is Australia s largest private provider of multi-modal public transport. Our Victorian sites Newport Our Newport facility is a national centre of excellence for wheelsets, bogies and engine overhauls. We have invested in new equipment and processes to ensure our customers assets are returned to operation quickly and cost-effectively. Newport is also home to Downer s national after-market parts distribution centre. South Dynon Our South Dynon facility offers freight maintenance, running repairs, minor and major component change-outs and reliability engineering for both standard and broad gauge locomotives and wagons. 05

6 Road services Downer is the largest non-government owned road infrastructure business in Australia and New Zealand, maintaining more than 40,000 kilometres of road in Australia and more than 32,000 kilometres in New Zealand. Downer in Victoria

7 Our customers include all of Australia s State road authorities, the New Zealand Transport Agency and the majority of local government councils and authorities in both countries. Our major contracts in Australia include: North East Maintenance Alliance (Victoria) Downer has been working with VicRoads since 2010 to deliver routine, periodic and minor improvements to more than 3,000 kilometres of roads in Victoria s North East; Sydney West Zone Stewardship Maintenance Contract (NSW) awarded in 2014, this seven year contract involves the planning, design and delivery of programs of maintenance and improvement for road and bridge assets on a network of 2,200 lane kilometres; and Integrated Service Arrangements (WA) awarded in 2010, these three relationship-based arrangements involve the delivery of extensive network asset management services over 6,600 road kilometres. We have formed strategic partnerships to meet the changing needs of our customers, for example the DownerMouchel joint venture that delivers the SMC in NSW and the ISAs in Western Australia. We continuously invest in innovation and state-of-the-art technology to ensure we remain at the forefront of our industry. For example, Downer: is building new asphalt plants that use more recycled products and substantially less energy (see case study below); supplied and installed the multi-modal smartcard system in Perth; designs, installs and maintains intelligent transport systems on high capacity road networks in Perth, Sydney and Wellington, New Zealand; and has been commissioned to lead the team developing Auckland Transport s first connected bus shelter prototype. Downer is also a leading manufacturer and supplier of bitumen based products providing our customers with asphalt, blended binders and emulsion products. Case study TonerPave TonerPave is a new asphalt, with high recycled content and reduced carbon footprint. TonerPave was developed by Downer and Melbourne company Close the Loop and is the result of a shared culture of innovation and a genuine desire to reduce the companies carbon footprint. TonerPave asphalt has been laid by numerous Melbourne councils. The key ingredient of TonerPave is Modified Toner Polymer, which has been developed over many years by Close the Loop and is a prime example of industrial ecology in action. New formulations of TonerPave, including the use of crumb rubber from recycled car and truck tyres, and waste acrylic paint are under development now for future release. 07

8 Utilities Our Utilities division works with our customers to energise and connect people and communities. Downer in Victoria

9 Our Utilities division operates from about 30 locations in Victoria and has three lines of business: Power and Gas We offer customers a wide range of services including planning, designing, constructing, operating, maintaining, managing and decommissioning power and gas network assets. Each year we connect 35,000 new power and gas customers while maintaining over 62,000 kilometres of electricity and gas networks across more than 115,000 square kilometres. Communications We offer end-to-end critical infrastructure management solutions to customers in the communications industry in both Australia and New Zealand. In Australia, we are a major contractor to NBN Co for the rollout of the National Broadband Network and in New Zealand we are a major contractor to Chorus, the Government s largest partner for the rollout of the Ultra-Fast Broadband program. We are also a major contractor to Foxtel and provide a range of services to Telstra and Optus. Our customers in Victoria include AusNet Services (see case study below) and United Energy. Over the past three years, we have also erected over 1,000 steel lattice transmission towers and designed and built over 100 substations. Water We provide complete water lifecycle solutions for municipal and industrial water users. Our expertise includes: waste and waste water treatment; pumping and water transfer; desalination and water re-use; and abstraction and dewatering. Our customers in Victoria include Melbourne Water, the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Yarra Valley Water. Case study AusNet Services Power and Gas, Victoria Downer is the 24/7 network operations and maintenance provider for AusNet Services entire gas network (600,000 consumers) and also its central electricity region (400,00 consumers). As the cornerstone service provider, we: operate the network; manage and respond to extreme weather events and network outages; perform all new customer connections; upgrade and extend the electricity network; manage asset replacement and upgrade programs for the gas network; and carry out bushfire compliance works. We employ about 600 people on this project and complete approximately 140,000 individual work orders each year. 09

10 Mining Other services Downer s Mining division has been successfully delivering contract mining and civil earthmoving services to its customers for over 90 years. It is now one of Australia s leading diversified mining contractors, with around 3,500 employees working across more than 50 sites in Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, South America and Southern Africa In Victoria, the RTL joint venture between Downer, Thiess and Linfox operates in the Latrobe Valley and provides services including mining, plant hire, civil, earthmoving and transport. Its customers include Yallourn Mine, Loy Yang and Hazelwood Power. Building and facilities Our building and facilities management expertise spans the full life cycle of services, including: project management; construction; operations and maintenance; asset management; and asset renewal. Oil, gas and industrial plants We support our customers oil, gas and mineral processing operations through: engineering, procurement and construction management; partnering on long-term maintenance contracts; and plant turnarounds and shutdowns.
