1 Spam Marshall SpamWall Step-by-Step Installation Guide for Exchange 5.5 What is this document for? This document is a Step-by-Step Guide that can be used to quickly install Spam Marshall SpamWall on Exchange 5.5 Servers. This document assumes that you will be installing Spam Marshall SpamWall on the same server as where your current Exchange Server 5.5 resides. Prepare your Exchange 5.5 Server for Spam Marshall SpamWall install You will need to know the IP address of your exchange server, which is the ip address you get when you type ipconfig in the command windows on the exchange server. Please note: IP address should be the local Exchange server IP address and not necessarily the public IP address of the server on your Firewall. In order to install Spam Marshall SpamWall on the same server as where your current Exchange 5.5 server is running, you need to configure Exchange 5.5 Internet Mail Service (IMS) to listen on a port other then 25. Spam Marshall SpamWall will then listen on port 25 for s coming through and will pass mail messages to Exchange Internet Mail Service after processing for spam. To change the IMS Port: Edit SERVICES file in Notepad located in C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc> directory. Note: if you installed Windows in a directory name other then the default location, change the location name here accordingly. Spam Marshall SpamWall Installation Guide for Exchange 5.5 Servers 1

2 Change smtp port from 25/tcp to 2500/tcp and make sure to save the file. Program Installation Steps Step 1: Run setup file for Spam Marshall SpamWall and then click on Next. Step 2 Provide the location of where to install Spam Marshall SpamWall or accept the default location and click Next Spam Marshall SpamWall Installation Guide for Exchange 5.5 Servers 2

3 Step 3: Select the appropriate option for the location of creating the Spam Marshall Icons and click Next Step 4: Click on Install button to proceed with the installation Spam Marshall SpamWall Installation Guide for Exchange 5.5 Servers 3

4 Step 5: Click on Done to finish installation Step 6: Open up Spam Marshall Control Panel. Click on Start > Programs > SpamMarshall > Control Panel Spam Marshall SpamWall Installation Guide for Exchange 5.5 Servers 4

5 Step 7: up You will see the Spam Marshall SpamWall Control Panel Window open After a momentarily delay. Verify Server status displays "Spam Marshall Server is RUNNING... in the bottom and the traffic light is green; otherwise click on Start. 6 Click on the column next to Host name of your corporate SMTP server and fill in the line with the local IP address of your Exchange 5.5 Server. Click on the row once and start typing. Click on the column next to TCP/IP port of your corporate SMTP server and type in the port number as Click on the column row once and start typing. Step 9: Click on the Save Button in the bottom of the Server Config tab once you have finished typing the information. You will receive a message to restart the server. 7 Click on the Server Status tab Step 10: Click on Stop button and wait until the traffic light changes to Red. Click on Start button and wait until the traffic light changes to green again. Spam Marshall SpamWall Installation Guide for Exchange 5.5 Servers 7

8 Step 11: Click on the Live Monitor tab to view messages arriving and to monitor server status. Please note: You still need to provide license information in order for Spam Marshall SpamWall to function. Follow the next steps to complete installation. Step 12: Bring up your Internet Explorer or Netscape Browser on the Exchange Server or from a remote machine. Open up the URL: ex: Note: You must type Http: in front of the ip address You will see a similar screen asking you for License Information which you should have received in your during product download registration process. Fill in the License Information and click on Proceed in the bottom Note: Proxy settings are only needed if you need connect to your server remotely via a Proxy Server, if you are not using a Proxy Server or doing this locally on the Exchange Server then leave all Proxy settings blank. 10 Verify that the IP address of the Corporate Server Host is same as what you had put in earlier in the Server Config tab in Spam Marshall SpamWall Control Panel. If it is blank please fill in with the IP address of the local Exchange server. Also verify the Corporate Server Port to make sure it displays the number you had filled in the Server Config tab of the Spam Marshall SpamWall Control Panel, if not please go ahead and fill in the port number if there is none there. In Administrator's account field type in the Administrator account. Check the Status Report box fro Administrator to receive daily reports. You can have more then one person receive the report by tying in the addresses separated by a comma in the Administrator's filed above. Please make sure to Click Save when done making changes. Uninstall Information To completely remove Spam Marshall from the Server, follow these steps: 1) Go to Add/Remove Programs in Windows Control Panel and select the option to uninstall Spam Marshall 2) Edit the SERVICE file in C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc> directory and change the smtp/tcp port from 2500 to 25.
