Western Canada Turfgrass Associa3on PURPOSE The WCTA is a non- profit society registered on February 14, The purpose of the Society is to promote research and the inter- change of scien3fic and prac3cal knowledge rela3ng to the care and management of turfgrass, thus bringing about more efficient and economical opera3on; to increase pres3ge for this Associa3on and the promo3on of the professional status of the individual members, as well as the occupa3on of turf supervision, including the produc3on, maintenance and improvement of turfgrass; to encourage coopera3on with other associa3ons and organiza3ons whose interests parallel or complement those of the Associa3on; to promote jus3ce, benevolence and educa3on to and for its members. Members represent a diversity of interests such as golf courses, sports fields, parks sod farms, nurseries, landscapers, lawn bowling greens, cricket pitches etc, anywhere turf is professionally managed, and the trade which supplies the industry. The WCTA works closely with government agencies such as the Ministries of Environment and Agriculture to help provide resources for turf managers. The WCTA is also credit coordinator for the Bri3sh Columbia Pes3cide Applicator Cer3ficate recer3fica3on program.

PGA of Bri3sh Columbia Purpose WHO WE ARE The PGA of BC is an associa3on of highly skilled and dedicated golf professionals who promote, play, develop and advance the game and business of golf for the benefit of its members and the people of Bri3sh Columbia. Our Mission Our mission is to advance the game and business of golf for the benefit of our members and for the people of Bri3sh Columbia; and to ac3vely promote enjoyment, par3cipa3on and improvement in the game of golf
Canadian Society of Club Managers Purpose The object of the Canadian Society of Club Managers (the Society ) as laid down in the Society s charter, is to raise the standards of club management to the highest possible level, consistent with the object of the Society. Its mission is to promote and develop the profession of club management in Canada. As members of this profession, it is incumbent upon club managers to be knowledgeable in the applica3on of sound principles in the management of clubs, and to keep abreast of current prac3ces and procedures.
BC Golf Superintendents Associa3on Purpose The role of the BCGSA is to heighten the professional recogni3on of the Golf Course Superintendent both in golf course maintenance as well as in the culture and science of turf management. A. The BCGSA promotes fraternity, benevolence; jus3ce and mutual understanding to and for its members. B. The BCGSA encourages, promotes and par3cipates in Turfgrass Research and the interchange of scien3fic and prac3cal knowledge rela3ng to the care of golf courses. The BCGSA also cooperates with many other associa3ons whose interests run parallel to, or compliment that of the BCGSA.
DMO Tourism BC The AGA of BC have let a seat available for the Provincial DMO However, we are unsure if this will be a posi3on that will be accepted in the short term as the future of the BCGMA is unsure and may fall in to a long term goal. We will re- connect with Tourism BC to see if there is interest in being part of AGA BC Maintaining a good rela3onship with TBC will provide us another avenue to create dialogue with Government and discuss the benefits of a healthy des3na3on Golf Marke3ng Program
Industry Suppliers Bri3sh Columbia The importance of having Industry/Supplier input to the AGA was discussed and a decision made to develop a contact list of Suppliers from all sectors of the Golf Industry. The AGA then drated a leser to be sent out to 193 Industry/ Suppliers to determine if there was an interest in providing input into the AGA, an accompanying leser outlining the goals of the AGA was also sent at that 3me. To date there has been 3 blasts sent out with 14 responses. 23 no3fica3on failures due to inaccurate s, assump3on is that most made it to their des3na3on. The possibility is also high that because of mass ing some would have been treated as junk mail. Of the 14 responses all but 1 have responded with a posi3ve view of the goals of the AGA.
Doug Ferne & Barrie McWha Funding opportunity
AGA BC Funding Opportunity Cap3ve Insurance AGA of BC recognized the need for funding other than that money that each of the member associa3ons has put in ($1500) each of the last two years Ini3a3ves could not require any (addi3onal) costs to golf courses and not deter exis3ng programs Program would provide opportunity for addi3onal revenue to par3cipa3ng facili3es and enhance benefits to clients The Board was presented with a hole in one insurance concept that if embraced on a large scale would generate funding for AGA as well as the golf courses that par3cipated
AGA BC Funding Opportunity Cap3ve Insurance BC is the only jurisdic3on in Canada with legisla3on permiqng Cap3ve Insurance Companies A Cap3ve Insurance Company is able to provide coverage otherwise not available, or coverage that is otherwise cost prohibi3ve Typically the Cap3ve is designed for associa3ons or industry niche applica3ons It is regulated by FICOM, a provincial government regulator of the insurance industry The provincial government supports this par3cular applica3on because it favors the growth in Cap3ve Insurance companies in BC
AGA BC Funding Opportunity Cap3ve Insurance AGA of BC would partner with Mobile Entertainment Inc to create a for profit company to provide hole in one insurance that golf courses could make available to groups, tournaments or events at a premium level that would allow the golf course to generate a return as well as AGA BC The Cap3ve would have two classes of shares: 100% of vo3ng shares controlled by AGA BC and investment shares that would enable a profit sharing based on a 70% ME Inc and 30 % AGA BC split. ME Inc will provide the capital ($300K) to fund the venture
AGA BC Funding Opportunity Cap3ve Insurance Opera3ng expenses would be funded through the Cap3ve. AGA BC would be responsible for encouraging golf courses to par3cipate The process is a web based model where the golf course would simply iden3fy the yardage, the value of the prize, the number of par3cipants, input that informa3on and immediately be provided with a quote for their client Upon approval the system would generate a contract and the client would pay the golf course The Cap3ve would invoice the golf course monthly for the contracts they sold
