3 Welcome to Metz Dear Zonta friends, It is a privilege and honour to officially invite you all to the District th District Conference which will be held in Metz, France from September 25th to 27th, The members of ZC Metz, our host club, have made all possible efforts to make your stay in their beautiful city worthwhile. Capital of Lorraine for ages and situated in the heart of Europe, Metz boasts a rich cultural and architectural background and combines its passion for contemporary art with its commitment to the values inherited from its past. All the events of the Conference will be held at the Arsenal, ideally located near the Esplanade garden. We are honoured to host International Director Nadia Biancato, Liaison for District 27, whose experience will bring an inspiring contribution to our meetings. The Conference motto is Empowering Women by Building Bridges. We will have the opportunity to learn how important it is to offer every woman the access to education, universally acknowledged as an essential human right because it highly impacts the socio-economic and cultural aspects of a country. Equity in education of women allows women to achieve their full potential and to become economically independent. It increases their life expectancy, reduces infant mortality, early marriages, possibilities of trafficking and exploitation of women. By building bridges, District 27 aims to make much better use of our resources and strengthen our networking opportunities within Zonta and with the outside world. By joining our skills and sharing our information we can reach our goals more easily and extend our experience to empower other women. We are sisters, empowering one another as well as other women around us to cross bridges which we never thought we would be able to cross on our own. But Building Bridges also means looking across the walls of our own clubs, work together in order to fulfil our common Zonta mission. The success of the Conference depends on you! We want to make it a meeting place for all Zontians of our District. Extend this invitation to the young members of the Z clubs and Golden Z clubs! Take the chance to deepen your friendship with your Fellow Zontians and to make new friendship across the boarders!! Friendship is a treasure we need to cherish!
