3 A significant economic impact, independently verified by Deloitte Hospedia s range of solutions were evaluated by Deloitte in a set of studies that set out their significant potential benefits to hospitals in the UK and worldwide. Hospedia used the information in these studies to calculate that a typical 500 bed UK hospital could benefit by savings of over 6m per annum, while the 250 bed average-sized US hospital would realise benefits of around $2m each year. In the UK, for example, CQUIN targets and Cost Improvement Plans (CIPs) are the financial areas on which hospitals are focused. Hospedia s solutions provide support for a range of CQUIN targets, including patient experience measures, the Friends and Family Test and VTE/NHS Safety Thermometer assessments. Hospedia s Patient Flow Management, Patient Feedback, Electronic Meal Ordering and Clinical Access are particularly relevant to CQUIN achievements. The mechanisms by which healthcare organisations in the US are funded are extremely different to those employed by the NHS, however the fundamental principles of how Hospedia s solutions can support hospitals financially and operationally remain consistent across both geographies. Meaningful Use Stage 1 and 2, and the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) Survey are the primary mechanisms by which US hospitals are measured and assessed, and Hospedia s solutions provide hospitals with the means to achieve the relevant targets, measure performance and demonstrate compliance. Beyond the financially-incentivised targets, both Governments are committed to a number of other initiatives, and the Deloitte reports highlight how the various Hospedia solutions fit into these, both in the UK and the US.
