Founded by three of the UK s leading garden professionals the College offers a flexible programme of one-year diploma and short courses to support you in your chosen career. As well as core design and plant skills we provide intensive business and construction teaching so that students can launch successful businesses as soon as they graduate. 5 We ve taken a new, fresh approach to our Diploma aimed at arming students with professional skills not offered at many of the more traditional colleges. Andrew Wilson ONE YEAR DIPLOMA COURSE Evolving like the seasons Our one-year Garden Design Diploma programme is the first garden design course aimed at providing a master class every day for its students. The course is led by Andrew Wilson, who has been at the forefront of garden design teaching in the UK for over 20 years. From September 2011 the London College of Garden Design one-year Garden Design Diploma classes will take place in the Orangery conference facilities at the world famous Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. As well as the conference facilities Garden Design Diploma students will have access to the gardens and libraries on class days. We aim to give you a fresh approach to training that will lead you into a professional career in garden design. > Two days contact time per week plus personal study time over a period of 34 weeks, divided into three academic terms with ongoing project assessment over the year. > Regular additional research visits to live projects, nurseries and other key suppliers plus special access to design collections such as the Victoria & Albert Museum and to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show > Through lectures, studio work and practical on-site training students are taken through foundation skills to professional design communication skills. > As well as design and plant skills students will be equipped with business and construction skills to support their business aspirations. > All teaching and studio staff are practitioners in their particular field enabling students to learn from up to date experience as well as their teaching. > Free access to our unique Info Burst evenings that develop your skills alongside practicing designers and landscapers. > Students benefit from exclusive guest tutor days from some of the world s leading designers You can download a prospectus and see profiles and the work of current students at lcgd.org.uk or call us on +44 (0) lcgd.org.uk

HN student SHORT COURSES Small bursts of inspiration Our short courses offer practical skills and inspirational teaching through which garden designers and landscape professionals can benefit and expand their skills. The short course programme includes seminars aimed at contemporary design trends, the changing face of planting design and technical workshops supporting drawing skills, business development and construction. And if you have an interest in garden design and gardens but not as a career we have developed a series of events and courses that will give you an insider s knowledge of the profession and enable you to expand your own garden design skills. Andrew Wilson An award winning garden designer and widely acknowledged as one of the UK s leading garden design lecturers who has been at the forefront of garden design teaching in the UK and overseas, for some 20 years. He is an RHS judge and a Fellow and former Chairman of the Society of Garden Designers. Mark Gregory Mark has been at the forefront of professional landscape contracting for almost 30 years. His company Landform is involved with some of the UK s most cutting edge domestic and commercial landscape schemes and has won numerous major national awards. Mark is the current chairman of the Association of Professional Landscapers. Andrew Fisher Tomlin Andrew is one of the country s leading garden designers creating award-winning gardens and landscapes across Europe and the Caribbean from offices in London and the West Indies. He teaches worldwide and judges for the RHS and other international bodies. Andrew is also a Fellow and former chairman of the Society of Garden Designers.
