Recognising the outstanding design; optimising cost, quality and function, the judges selection included an electric drive, a valve terminal, fieldbus connector and the adaptive gripper.

2 Pneumatic grippers Innovative pneumatic grippers set new performance standard The new DHxS range includes parallel, three-point, radial and angular versions, each offering a wide choice of sizes and gripper finger strokes, to ensure the right function and capacity are available to meet the demands of diverse applications. The new grippers are characterised by compact dimensions, optimised gripping retention force and high reliability. They are ideal for handling and assembly systems that demand cost-effective, lightweight end-effectors. 3 Pneumatic drives with self adjusting cushioning Self adjusting (PPS) cushioning makes commissioning childs play PPS cushioning is already available on a wide range of Festo pneumatic cylinders. It means no more toing-and-froing when adjusting the cushioning of pneumatic cylinders making commissioning easier and saving time. It allows dynamic but gentle deceleration into the end positions without the need for users to intervene manually. Festo self-adjusting cushioning PPS ensures an optimum cushioning action every time, even if parameters such as friction and pressure vary. This reduces wear and minimises vibration which costs cycle time. Self-adjusting cushioning Pressure sensor Miniature pressure transmitter simplifies high performance test & assembly equipment For sensing both pressure and vacuum, the new SPTE piezoresistive transducer is a highly versatile and easy-to-use feedback device. Typical applications include vacuum detection in pick-and-place machines. Designed primarily for cost-sensitive, high volume applications, it has a grid size of just 10mm, enabling tight packing densities in crowded control racks, and a very low weight which makes it ideal for integrating directly with moving machine parts. The analogue output signal can be fed direct to a PLC helping to minimise installation costs. The SPTE can be combined with a signal converter (SVE4) to produce two digital output signals for applications where an analogue input isn t available e.g. to monitor upper and lower operating limits.
