2 VOLUME 12 No. 1 Contents 04 Events Cover Story 30 My Family 31 Article 32 Achievement 35 Naye Mehemaan 08 How to Get What You Want H ow to get what I want? You've heard e expression, "What you see is what you get." A wise old man used to say: "If you look at a tree long enough, it will move." We see what we want to see. Psychologists tell us at noing controls our life more an our selfimage. We live like e person we see in e mirror. We are what we ink we are. If you don't ink you'll be successful, you won't. Your life is limited to your vision. If you want to change your life, you must change your vision of your life. Arnold Schwarzenegger was not at famous in 1976 when he met wi a newspaper reporter. The reporter asked Schwarzenegger. "Now at you've retired from bodybuilding, what do you plan to do next? Schwarzenegger answered very calmly and confidently: "I'm going to be e #1 movie star in Hollywood. The reporter was shocked and amused at Schwarzenegger's plan. At at time, it was very hard to imagine how is muscle-bound body builder, who was not a professional actor and who spoke poor English wi a strong Austrian accent, could ever hope to be Hollywood's #1 movie star! So e reporter asked Schwarzenegger how he planned to make his dream come true, Schwarzenegger said: "I will do it e same way I became e #1 body builder in e world. What I do is to create a vision of who I want to be, en I start living like at person in my mind as if it were already true." Sounds almost childishly simple, doesn't it? But it worked! Schwarzenegger DID become e #1 highest paid movie star in Hollywood! Remember: "If you can see it, you can be it. A young man asked Socrates e secret to success. Socrates told e young man to meet him near e river e next morning. They met. Socrates asked e young man to walk wi him towards e river. When e water got up to eir neck, Socrates took e young man by surprise and ducked him into e water. The boy struggled to get out but Socrates was strong and kept him ere until e boy started turning blue. Socrates pulled his head out of e water and e first ing e young man did was to gasp and take a deep brea of air. Socrates asked: " What did you want e most when you were ere under e water?" The boy replied: "Air." Socrates said: "That is e secret to success. When you want success as badly as you wanted e air, en you will get it. There is no oer secret." The motivation to succeed comes from e burning desire to achieve a purpose. Napoleon Hill wrote: "Whenever e mind of man can conceive and believe, e mind can achieve. A burning desire is e starting point of all accomplishments. Editorial Dear employees, I have great pleasure to note at entire GSPC Group has celebrated 44 National Safety Week wi great sense of enusiasm and spirit. Series of programmes were organised across locations for improvising e safety culture in e organization. GSPC Group, being in e hydrocarbon business, has to give utmost importance to safety and we have to create a culture where safety becomes our way of life even in our personal sphere of life. Following safety procedures regularly and religiously in a way sets us free from hazards and stress. Safety is everyone's full time job. Safety is as simple as ABC Always Be Careful. I am also very happy to inform all of you at on May 16, e amalgamation process of Gujarat Gas Company and GSPC Gas Company was finalised and e amalgamated entity, Gujarat Gas Limited (GGL) was formed. Now GGL is India s largest City Gas Distribution Company. I compliment GSPL and GGL for organizing various safety awareness programmes. Such programmes go a very long way in driving home e message of safety first and safety always. GGL continues its aggressive journey of converting Gujarat into a natural gas hub. My compliments to Morbi team for commissioning 700 PNG industrial customer. This is a reflection of sheer hard work by e Morbi team ensuring continuous grow of business leading to signed gas volume of 5.33MMSCMD. I am also happy to bring to your notice at in e first week of June I visited e KG Asset of e company and was very impressed by e progress made by e project. Our dedicated team is indeed working against heavy odds bo at e offshore and onshore installations. I have a pleasure to note at Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) during a recent visit to Gujarat were impressed wi e network expansion by GGL and making sure at CNG network is available at large part of e state. SIAM is e apex industry body representing 46 leading vehicle and vehicular engine manufacturers in India. We have an interesting report of how a humble mobile booking van is bringing a positive change in e lives of people in sou Gujarat. Informing and educating people about e goodness of piped natural gas right at eir door step and providing all help in booking a PNG connection, e mobile van has indeed in its 100 plus days of service at e customer's doorstep brought in happiness and joy for e customers at large. To many e concept of a mobile van may seem outdated but a recent study pointed out at along wi several oer challenges, it was observed at ere was a customer sub-segment at was not savvy to technology or media including FM radio and was also reluctant to visit e local office to apply for a PNG connection and carry out e related formalities to secure a PNG connection. To me is is not just a story of how Gujarat Gas seized an opportunity and converted it into business but it is a story of how lives of people could be changed for better by understanding an issue in e right perspective. GSPC also celebrated e Women's Day organising programmes wi enusiastic participation from women employees of GSPC and group companies. Smt Manjula Pooja Shroff, Chairperson of Calorx Foundation, gave a key note address on 'Women Empowerment- Work Balance & Women Security.' There was also a fun filled session by RJ Radhika. Congratulations are also due to GSPC LNG team for participating in five mile run. Also, young children of several GSPC employees have achieved excellence in eir academic pursuits and oer extracurricular activities. I wish all of em a very bright future ahead. In e end I am reminded of legendary basketball player Michael Jordan who rightly said, Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships." Teamwork is e ability to work togeer toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organisational objectives and it is e fuel at allows common people to attain uncommon results. Atanu Chakraborty, IAS Managing Director, GSPC 02 03
