5 Optional: Areas of Specialization In Information Management students can opt for one out of three specializations and choose courses, practical placements and their thesis according to the focus: Interactive and AV-media Special library -> including information units within academic or commercial organizations Scientific libraries 5

6 Specialization Interactive and AV-media prepares graduates for example for jobs in the field of search engine optimization online marketing web site construction (web 2.0 level) development of apps handling of content management systems database programming documentation of AV media tagging of AV media 6

7 Specialization Special libraries Most flexible specialization prepares graduates for example for jobs in information units in companies or research departments information broking/information research information management in PR-departments knowledge management technical project management and support small special libraries/one person libraries 7

8 Specialization for Scientific Libraries This specialization prepares for positions in larger scientific libraries. Their specialities cover among others Management of large scientific libraries Catalogueing rules (even for very special sources) Library computer science Digital libraries It includes the conditions to become a public official in libraries 8

9 Elective Modules in Information Management Innovative modules within the 30 electives offer courses and sometimes research participation in data- and text mining usability studies in Web 2.0 eye tracking methods linked open data semantic web XML social media open access e-government and e-science 9

10 Medical Information Management B.A. Structure similar to Information Management Three specializations: computer science for medical information managers electronic health record management, quality mangement and controlling clinical trial management and statistics 10
