1 Departamento Gestão Curso Licenciatura em Marketing ECTS 4 Teóricas Teóricopráticas Distribuição das horas de contacto Trabalho Práticas e de Seminário Estágio Laboratoriais campo Orientação tutória Outras Tempo total de trabalho (horas) Docente Responsável Maria de Lurdes Correia Martins lurdesmartins@estv.ipv.pt Outros Docentes Objetivos Competências The course unit aims to provide students with basic skills in English so that they can deal with most of the situations they will come across once working, in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages level B1. The learning process will be enhanced through a combination of different teaching and learning methodologies, bringing together different spaces and resources, with a special focus on project based learning. By the end of the semester students should be able to: Understand the main ideas of propositionally and linguistically complex speech on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions. Read with a large degree of independence, adapting style and speed of reading to different texts and purposes. Take part into discussion of familiar topics, express personal opinions and exchange information on topics that are familiar. Write straightforward connected text on topics, which are familiar, or of personal and professional interest PROGRAMA Since the curricular unit seeks to develop skills in the areas of communication and expression, both oral and written, according to the CEFRL level B1, the choice of contents focused mostly on the professional level, specifically on the topic English for business communication.
2 Topics Vocabulary Grammar Speaking Writing Living abroad Living abroad Present simple and prepositions of time Small talk Formal and informal s Dealing with customers Telephoning and customers Requests and offers Telephoning handling complaints Dealing with complaints Operations Trends and planning Present continuous; adverbs Presentations signposts and Instructions and procedures stepping stones The company Describing a company Comparatives and superlatives Describing a company Introducing a company by Selling Buying and Past simple and Appraisals Agendas and selling present perfect Going global Franchising First conditional Presentations handling questions Metodologias de Ensino/Aprendizagem actions minutes Reports of recommendation The programme will be based around the needs of the participants, developing language skills through discussion, role-plays, presentations, vocabulary development, language analysis, negotiation practice all in the context of the core functions of a marketing professional. Practical tasks and realistic scenarios will be developed to develop the specialist language and communication skills needed for a career in marketing. Covering a range of business-related topics as Living Abroad, Success Stories, Going Global and The Stock Markets, the eight standalone units enable students to concentrate on the areas that are most relevant to them. The modular structure of the curricular unit allows course pathways to be built according to the student's needs whether focusing on input, speaking, vocabulary etc. Case studies, ideal for independent study, use true business scenarios to challenge the students and push them to develop both their language and business skills. The use of authentic contexts both in the book and other teaching materials further help prepare learners for real working life. With regard to evaluation methodologies, we focus on a holistic approach to allow students to demonstrate the various skills developed both in terms of understanding and expression of written and oral English. Metodologias de Avaliação assessment will be in accordance to the following rules: 1. Avaliação em Época Normal A.
