Europe starts here! Europe starts with you! The European Heritage Label links outstanding heritage sites with a symbolic European value. The four sites which were awarded this label in 2013 have played a significant role in Europe s history and culture or in European integration. Started in 2006 as a joint initiative by national governments, the label is administered today by the European Commission. European Heritage Label sites are carefully selected at national and EU level for their symbolic value and the activities they offer, which highlight their place and role in European history or in the development European integration. Das Europäische Kulturerbe-Siegel verbindet Kulturstätten mit hohem symbolischem Wert: Stätten, die eine bedeutende Rolle in der europäischen Geschichte und Kultur gespielt haben oder welche der Entwicklung und Verbreitung der europäischen Integration zugrunde liegen. Europa beginnt hier! Europa beginnt bei Ihnen! Das Europäische Kulturerbe-Siegel verbindet herausragende kulturelle Stätten mit einem symbolischen Wert für Europa. Die vier Stätten, denen das Siegel 2013 verliehen wurde, haben eine wichtige Rolle in der Geschichte und Kultur Europas bzw. der europäischen Integration gespielt. Das Kulturerbe-Siegel gibt es seit Es entstand aus einer gemeinsamen Initiative nationaler Regierungen. Heute wird es von der Europäischen Kommission vergeben. Die Stätten mit einem Europäischen Kulturerbe-Siegel werden auf nationaler und auf EU-Ebene sorgfältig nach ihrem symbolischen Wert und den angebotenen Aktivitäten ausgewählt. Great Guild Hall, Tallinn, Estonia The Great Guild Hall was built in It was commissioned by the Great Guild, an association of German Hanseatic merchants,one of most important trading organisations in medieval times, which played an important role in the history of trade and cultural exchanges in medieval northern Europe. The Great Guild Hall, an example of typical Hanseatic architecture, is a public building in which countless trade and social exchanges have taken place since the Middle Ages. Today, the hall hosts the Estonian History Museum which presents Estonian history in its European context.

Praegu tegutseb hoones Eesti Ajaloomuuseum, mis esitleb Eesti ajalugu Euroopa kontekstis. Suurgildi hoone, Tallinn, Eesti Suurgildi hoone ehitati aastal. Selle tellis Suurgild, saksa hansakaupmeeste ühendus, mis oli keskaja üks olulisim organisatsioon ning mängis tähtsat rolli kaubanduses ja kultuuride läbikäimises keskaegses Põhja-Euroopas. Suurgildi hoone on hansaarhitektuuri tüüpnäide. Tegu on avaliku hoonega, milles on keskajast alates toimunud lugematu hulk kaubandus- ja kogukonnasündmuseid. Praegu tegutseb hoones Eesti Ajaloomuuseum, mis esitleb Eesti ajalugu Euroopa kontekstis.
