The European Eco-label is an environmental label issued by the European Commission. It is available for tourist accommodations, camp sites and associated products. The following results were developed in the TRAIN TO ECO-LABEL project: 1) Step-by-step tourism training for staff and seasonally unemployed people and middle and senior managers 2) A train-the-trainer manual to allow use of the course contents outside the core team by various organisations 3) An internet platform where the course contents are stored and tested by tourist accommodation services Das Projekt baut auf zwei EU-Richtlinien auf, der Richtlinie für das EU-Umweltzeichen für Beherbergung und der Richtlinie für Camping. Beide Texte sind schwer verständlich verfasst und für viele Betriebe in dieser Form kaum umsetzbar. Aus diesem Grund haben sich mehrere Experten zu diesem Thema das Ziel gesetzt, die schwierigen Richtlinientexte in praxistaugliche Form zu setzen und für die Tourismusbranche verständlich zu machen. Die Inhalte wurden als Training strukturiert und werden von Interessierten direkt in die Praxis umgesetzt. Das Besondere dabei ist, dass die Arbeiten in Abstimmung mit der GD Umwelt, mehreren europäischen Umweltministerien und offiziellen Stellen durchgeführt wurde und die Anwendung somit von diesen Organen bereits empfohlen wird. Die Inhalte auf der Seite sind gut strukturiert und für die Zielgruppe angepasst. Das Wissen wird laufend aktualisiert, da Umweltschutz im Tourismus laufend an Stellenwert gewinnt und immer neue Erfahrungen gesammelt werden.
