7 ZERO NET ENERGY & PERFORMANCE CONSULTING Driven by advancements in passive design techniques, increasingly affordable renewable energy technologies, and federal and state building codes, building owners and developers are looking to net zero energy (NZE) operations to increase asset value and marketability. NZE buildings consume only as much energy as they produce with on-site power sources over an annual basis. EBS has guided both new construction and existing buildings to achieve net zero energy for traditional construction costs by starting the conversation in Pre-Design, and following the project all the way through post-occupancy. 8 OUR COMPANY ENERGY ENGINEERING Our suite of engineering services goes far beyond code compliance, LEED and utility bill savings. We work alongside the design team to integrate synergistic energy solutions that enhance indoor environmental quality, occupant comfort and health, while also increasing asset value and net operating income. 9 ENERGY ENGINEERING Energy, Daylight & CFD Modeling Optimize natural daylighting and ventilation systems during schematic design to lower first cost, and create healthy, attractive, resource efficient spaces. ENERGY STAR / ASHRAE Audit We perform ENERGY STAR certifications to highlight building performance, and ASHRAE Level I, Il & lll audits to meet AB1103 and uncover potential energy efficiency upgrades. Commissioning / Quality Assurance Review building system design and installation to ensure maximum efficiency, performance, as well as ongoing operation and maintenance. Measurement & Verification We install & commission baseline monitoring systems to analyze energy metrics before construction and after substantial completion.
