4 What is GSA s Sustainability objective? Work with others-our partners, contractors, and regulators-to help improve environmental, health, and safety management of the real estate management industry; Promote awareness of applicable environmental, health, and safety requirements on the part of all persons carrying out GSA operations by providing training to GSA employees, and requiring contractors to demonstrate that their employees have been sufficiently trained; Comply with all applicable environmental, health, and safety requirements; Implement and continually improve an environmental management framework based on an external standard; and, Periodically recognize those in the organizations who make significant contributions to improved environmental, health, and safety performance. 4

6 GSA has selected LEED LEED requirement in place since 2000, Certified targeting Silver. A July 2006 study by PNNL named LEED as the most appropriate sustainability system for GSA. All new GSA construction projects and substantial renovations must be LEED Certified. Projects are encouraged to achieve LEED Silver level. Requirements of the GSA PBS P-100 influence the minimum requirements in many categories. 6
