Welcome to Southern California Edison s Energy Efficiency Programs 1
Energy Efficiency #1 Resource The California Energy Action Plan of 2005 establishes energy efficiency as the state s top priority procurement resource and calls for the utilities to invest in energy efficiency whenever it is more cost effective than power plants Allied with you, our customer, to advance long term energy policies in your cities, counties, and institutions that save energy, money and the environment 2
Since 2003, SCE's energy efficiency programs have reduced greenhouse gas emissions by more than 2.8 million tons 3
the equivalent of removing 375,000 cars from the road
CPUC Energy Goals kwh energy savings in billions 1,800 1,600 1,400 1,200 1, Goal Result 5
In 2008, SCE will help customers save an additional 1.8 billion kilowatt hours 6
the equivalent of avoiding the Energy Demand Reduction total emissions from 300 Reduction in MW power plants Goal Result
Partnership Program Portfolio Partnership programs are between a regulated utility and a designated partner, where the partner will work in tandem with the utility to provide energy efficiency services for their institution, city, county, state and/or community. Ultimately Energy Efficiency Partnerships programs will influence our society s behavior across the generations and will produce a renewed appreciation and stewardship of our resources 8
Partnership Programs Local Government SCE partners with cities, counties and local government Develop strong relationships and goodwill Reach communities more effectively County of Los Angeles* County of Riverside * Bakersfield & County of Kern Energy Watch South Coast (3 cities and Santa Barbara County) Community Energy Partnership (10 cities) South Bay Partnership (14 cities) Ventura County Partnership (10 cities and Ventura Co) San Gabriel Valley Cities (29 cities) Palm Desert Demonstration Government Energy Action Resources Program Santa Ana 9

Residential Portfolio SCE s residential program portfolio promotes energy efficiency and use of energy-efficient measures by consumers. SCE s residential programs include lighting and appliances incentives, new construction incentives and design assistance, audits, and energy efficiency information. SCE s residential portfolio focuses on the maximization of energy efficiency as an energy resource. The following programs make up the residential program portfolio, and the program strategies implemented. Appliance Recycling Program Residential Energy Efficiency Incentive Program Multifamily Energy Efficiency Program Home Energy Efficiency Survey Integrated School-Based Program Comprehensive HVAC Program CA New Homes Program 11
Nonresidential Portfolio SCE s 2006 Nonresidential Programs are designed to: (1) increase the level of retrofit and new construction energy-efficient investments in commercial, industrial, and agricultural end-users; (2) educate nonresidential customers on the value of energy efficiency and on existing and new opportunities for implementing energy efficiency in their facilities; and (3) promote an integrated portfolio of energy efficiency, demand response, and distributed generation technologies and services to nonresidential customers. SCE s nonresidential portfolio has been designed to focus on these goals and to maximize the use of energy efficiency in the nonresidential sector as an energy resource. The following programs make up the Nonresidential Program portfolio, and the program strategies implemented. Comprehensive HVAC Program Retro-Commissioning (RCx) Industrial Energy Efficiency Program Agricultural Energy Efficiency Program Nonresidential Direct Installation 12
Business Incentives Direct Install Program Description Offers free installations of replacement equipment using new, energy-efficient technology Lighting, refrigerators, and others Participants gain incentive of lower energy use and costs Target Markets Small businesses with < 100 kw of monthly demand largely within the Commercial Market Segment What s New Comprehensive package of incentives and services for existing buildings Focus on service delivery through business owners/franchise networks Offer Financial Services 13
SCE California New Homes Program SCE s California New Homes Program is an incentive program designed to encourage the incorporation of energy efficiency into residential new construction. The primary objectives of the California New Homes Program are to: Encourage the building of quality energy-efficient new homes Reduce peak electric demand Reduce Green House Gas CO2 emissions Establish supportive partnerships with: California Builders EPA s ENERGY STAR New Homes Program Cities/Counties/State/IOUs Green Builder organizations 14
California Solar Initiative Mission: to move California toward a cleaner energy future and help lower the cost of solar systems for consumers Governor s Million Solar Roofs program set a goal for California to create 3,000 MW of new, solar-produced electricity capacity by 2017 It will reduce GHG emissions by the equivalent of 520,000 tree seedlings grown over the next 10 years 15
SCE Income Qualified Programs CARE/FERA Rate Programs California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) program offers income-qualified customers a discount of 20% + off their monthly electric bill. If the CARE program is not right for your family, you may qualify for the Family Electric Rate Assistance program (FERA). This plan offers a discounted rate on your monthly SCE bill for families of 3 or more who fall within the income guidelines and exceed their baseline usage by 30% or more. Energy Management Assistance Program The Energy Management Assistance (EMA) program helps incomequalified households conserve energy and reduce their electricity costs. SCE pays all the cost of purchasing and installing energyefficient appliances and equipment, which are free to eligible customers. These income limits are effective from June 1, 2007 to May 31,
Benefits for Us and the Environment The concept of community and institutional sustainability is built around the premise that businesses, governments and communities can improve their financial performance and long term viability while responsibly addressing more global environmental and social issues by meeting the needs of the present and planning for the future 17
