Adults require only proof of the course prerequisite International students must bring a letter of permission signed by their Secondary School ISP Coordinator (ISP Coordinators have copies of the necessary form) Photo ID (student card, driver s license, passport) must be shown to teacher **Course credit will not be granted without this information**

3 Page 4 Fees and Textbook Deposits: Tuition fees must be paid in full at time of registration. Fees may be paid by cheque made payable to Langley District Summer School, cash, MC, Visa or AmEx (post-dated cheques not accepted). ** Fees cannot be paid online. Registrants for tuition-based courses must register in person A fully refundable textbook deposit of $75 must be presented on the first day of class in order to receive a textbook. $75 will be returned upon receipt of the text. NSF cheques: $20 NSF fee Classes may be cancelled due to low enrollment (full refund if applicable) Refunds for tuition-based courses are available up to and including Tuesday, June 30, 2009 (a 10% administration of total fees paid will apply) Reports: Report cards will be issued on the last day of classes Provincial Exams: To be written at Langley Secondary School ( th Ave., Langley) (schedule on Page 6) - No walk-ins will be accepted Only compulsory exams are offered in summer (see page 6) Course Cancellations: Courses may be cancelled due to low enrollment. 4 Page 5 Secondary Full Credit Courses at Langley Secondary School **ALL COURSES OFFERED SUBJECT TO SUFFICIENT ENROLLMENT** Courses are 91 hours - students receive full credit, percentage and letter grade This provides students with a comparable number of hours of instruction to courses taken during the regular school year Course Length: 27 sessions (91 hours), Thurs., July 2 to Fri., August 7, :00am 11:45am with one 15 minute break per day Fees: $75 Refundable Textbook Deposit (A cheque for $75 must be submitted on the first day of class to receive a text - $75 will be refunded upon return of the text). $690 Tuition for International Students paid at registration $75 Text deposit submitted on first day of class (see above) Intended for students who: Have never taken the course and have a "C+" standing in the prerequisite course Failed a course or received a low pass and wish to improve their course percentage mark Want to improve their Provincial Examination score by thoroughly preparing for an August examination retake Are adult students (19 and over) who wish to complete a secondary course (phone LEC for more information) Courses offered - Grade 10 at Langley Secondary School th Avenue, Langley English 10 Math 10 (Principles) Math 10 (Applications) Math 10 (Essentials) Science 10 Social Studies 10 Courses offered - Grade 11/12 at Langley Secondary School th Avenue, Langley Biology 11, 12 Chemistry 11, 12 Communications 11, 12 English 11, 12 Math (Principles of) 11, 12 Physics 11, 12 Social Studies 11 (also at ACSS with ESL support) Math (Principles) 11 Blended Online English 12 Blended Online New Blended Online Courses Available! Students should have a strong foundation in the prerequisite course and a good independent work ethic. Students must have access to technology at home.

This means that you will be completing exams in a computer lab at the school rather than on paper. RE-WRITES: Students not enrolled in Summer School wishing to re-write their exams, must register to write through their home school counselling office. Not all students may be accommodated due to computer availability.

6 Page 7 Secondary Academic Completion (Remedial Courses): **ALL COURSES OFFERED SUBJECT TO SUFFICIENT ENROLLMENT** Intended for students who have failed the course during the current year and have achieved at least 35%. June results will be posted July 31st. August results will be posted September 7th. There is a one week gap between the end of Academic Completion courses and the Provincial exams. Students intending on rewriting their exam may wish to consider taking the longer full credit course in these subjects in order to finish closer to the exam date.
