Location: DAC, Room A. 1pm-2pm IT News Update. Presented by Ron Parker. Catch up on the newest and upcoming changes in technology. Location: DAC, Room A. 2:15pm-3:15pm * Empowering Students toward Academic Success. Presented by Dorothy Babbington. This session will provide a brief glimpse into the note taking and rehearsal strategies taught in Psychology 1300: Learning Frameworks with the intent that knowledge of the methodology taught will enable instructors to remind and encourage students to utilize these strategies to achieve continued academic success. Location: DAC, Room A. 3:30pm-4:30pm * Working with your Gradebook. Presented by Bennett Willis. In this session we will work with an Excel based template to create your prepare your class rolls and gradebook calculation in just minutes without ever having to work with a formula. Bring registration numbers for your courses and your grading plans and set up your grade book(s) before the seminar is complete! *EGC Pre-approved (faculty) ** EGC pre-approved (all) Note: For adjunct faculty, pre-approved activities apply to Tier II Professional Growth Hours.
4 TUESDAY am -4pm * On Course for Faculty. Presented by On Course Workshop facilitator Teresa Ward. This all day workshop is for pre-registered faculty. Refer to Vice President, Dean and/or Division Chairs for information on whether you have been registered. This workshop is targeted to faculty and provides a foundation in learner-centered educational as well as practical and proven educational strategies that participants can use immediately with their students. Location: DAC, Rooms B & C. 10 am -11:30 am ** Microsoft Office Info Path. Presented by Jamie Gay and Jeri Gibbs. Learn how to create simple forms using Microsoft InfoPath. In this session we will create InfoPath forms, add form fields, publish forms to a shared network drive, publish forms via Microsoft Outlook and collect data for export to Microsoft Excel. 1:30pm-3pm ** Timesaving Calendar Tools in Outlook. Presented by Jamie Gay and Jeri Gibbs. Learn how to use your Outlook Calendar more effectively by sharing calendars, creating and viewing group schedules, viewing multiple time zones, planning a meeting, and editing labels.
5 WEDNESDAY :30 am -11:30 am ** Convocation and Breakfast. Presented by keynote speaker Raul Magdaleno. The empowerment performance, Who do you think you are? is an initiative to motivate educators through a real life narrative calling leaders to action while providing them the tools needed to affect change within themselves, their students, and beyond the classroom. During the empowerment speech Raul shares his slums-to-success life story in an effort to engage, empower and educate. Location: DAC, Room D-G. 1pm-2:30pm * Capture, Create and Publish Videos with Camtasia. Presented by Bryan Brown. Camtasia is a software application to create video tutorials and presentations which can motivate, inform and enhance learning. In this session we will cover how to create, edit, and publish a Camtasia project as well as request a Longview server account to store and share your videos on SharePoint (college website) and in Desire2Learn (learning management system). 2:15pm-3:15pm ** Financial Aid 101. Presented by Priscilla Sanchez. Dispelling the myths of financial aid and assisting students in completing the financial aid process! How faculty and staff can guide students in completing the financial aid process and understand the basic requirements to receive and remain eligible for financial aid and scholarships. Location: DAC, Room A. 2:45pm-4:15pm ** Timesaving Calendar Tools in Outlook. Presented by Jamie Gay and Jeri Gibbs. Learn how to use your Outlook Calendar more effectively by sharing calendars, creating and viewing group schedules, viewing multiple time zones, planning a meeting, and editing labels.. 3:30pm-4:30pm ** Online Tutoring: The Answer for Busy Students & Faculty. Presented by the Brazosport College Writing Tutors. Learn how tutors increase writing success by using online tutoring and services! See how students use the Student Success Center s resources, and how you can take advantage of their online service for assignment reviews and editing as well as track student visits and tutor comments. Location: DAC, Room a.
6 THURSDAY am -10 am ** Introduction to Microsoft Office OneNote. Presented by Kimberly Milligan. Join Kimberly for an introduction to Microsoft OneNote, a note taking and information management program included in Microsoft Office Suite where you can capture ideas and information in an electronic form. Additional, in-depth, look at this product will be provided in a One Note series of workshops during the spring semester. 9 am -10 am ** IT Security for the End User. Presented by Ben Stratford. IT security is not just for large IT departments or businesses; it is for all users. IT security involves prevention, dealing with security threats, best practices, data destruction, and securing your networks at home. Location: DAC, Room B 10:15 am -11:15 am ** Dealing with Family Preparedness. Presented by David Dunn from the American Red Cross. The Red Cross is here to make sure you are as prepared as you possibly can be for potential disasters and other emergencies. These events can strike suddenly, at anytime and anywhere. We will focus on three actions with an allhazards approach everyone can take; that can help make a difference. Location: DAC, Room A. 10:15 am -11:15 am * Incorporating Video into Instruction. Presented by Brent Cooper & Cassie Bruner. Join librarians Brent and Cassie as they go over resources that can be found on the web and the Library s online resources page that allow for the recording, selecting, and/or editing of educational video clips. Location: Room F pm-2pm ** Career Coach. Presented by Cindy Ullrich. Career Coach is an excellent online tool that contains current, local data on wages, employment, job postings, education and training. In this session you will learn how to use Career Coach to promote your program, assist BC students in choosing their career path and finding a job related to their degree.
