24 Market Outlook: Client Virtualisation Client Virtualisation 1.0 Client Virtualisation : Client virtualisation begins to get noticed - CVD is the dominant solution - A lot of pilots, no real deployments - Not much in terms of management 2010: Real deployments emerge - Client hypervisors released - Management getting better - CVD still dominates market - Use cases more widely available 2011: Additional industry verticals to adapt client virtualisation - Solutions finally maturing - Vendors integrate CVD with DVD - DaaS solutions maturing 2012: Industry to consolidate - Client virtualisation becoming a service - Deployment cost decreases dramatically - SMBs begin to adapt (through SI and hosters)
25 Essential Guidance Client virtualisation is fundamentally different to server virtualisation no quick ROI. Client virtualisation is a great vehicle to improve efficiencies: It reduces long-term TCO for end-user computing It increases security and corporate control of data and applications running on end-user devices It improves desktop management Centralised virtual desktops and application virtualisation remain the fastest-growing client virtualisation segments. One size doesn t fit all. Nor should organisations limit to one specific client virtualisation technology. 25
