2 Our Generous Community More than 8500 individuals and almost 300 local companies support the work of United Way of Marathon County. Your generosity provides grants to programs across the community that are focusing on the priorities of Education, Income and Health. Thank you!

3 2014 Program Investments Healthy Choices 4% Healthy Independent Seniors 3% Healthy Relationships 12% Optimal Mental Health 9% Food Security and Safe, Affordable Housing 22% School Readiness 23% Success in School 20% Financial Stability 7% In 2014, nearly 2 million dollars was invested in 40 programs

4 provides free and confidential access to nonemergency health and human services information and referral, 24/7. connects people who want to get help with community services and connects people who want to give help with volunteer opportunities. United Way s serves Marathon, Portage, Lincoln, Oneida, and Vilas Counties.

5 Connects individuals and groups with opportunities to serve. Builds the capacity of nonprofits by helping them recruit the volunteers they need. Strengthens community through coordination of key volunteer events: Make A Difference Day Gift Wrapping for Bundles of Joy Disaster Response-VRC Training

6 A volunteer program for persons 55 years of age and over. Provides volunteer placement services and program benefits that support volunteering. Hosts monthly Coffee Hours and Educational programs free to the community.

7 United Way brings community together to publish the biennial LIFE report. Acknowledge community strengths. Identify community challenges. Serve as a catalyst for change by advancing community conversations and partnerships around the Calls for Action.

8 More than 120,000 books have been distributed since 2004 through agencies that serve children and families with an emphasis on low-income families. Grants and donations from B.A. & Esther Greenheck Foundation, Dudley Foundation, 3M, UW Extension Homemakers Club, Marshfield Clinic, and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church pay for the books.

10 A giving community that provides a powerful structure to inspire and mobilize the giving power of women. Over 200 members: Engage in volunteer projects that impact community needs. Advocate for low-income women and families. Network with other community minded women.

11 Their signature event, Power of the Purse. raised more than $15,000 to fund various impact projects in Their newest project, Rebecca s Closet, provides infant and children s clothing to families in need.

12 A giving community that engages young professionals in philanthropic and leadership opportunities, and educates emerging leaders on community priorities and needs. Members participate in committees, networking events, volunteer projects, and exclusive leadership training opportunities.

13 Volunteer projects include community gardens, community meals, reading to children, Born Learning Trails, Career Closet and the SmackHunger&SayCheese event.

14 The Marathon County Hunger Coalition distributes an average of 82,000 pounds of food per year. Last year over 2,600 dozen eggs were donated to the Marathon County Hunger Coalition. Over 80% of the food gathered at the United We Can event fit in the nutritious food category.

16 Led Project Connect and Point-In-Time Events: The last Wednesday of January and July, volunteers count homeless people during overnight hours. The Marathon County Housing and Homelessness Coalition s new project, is providing apartment style housing for families for up to 6 months along with case management to help them build job skills, learn to budget, and reach financial stability. Writing a Housing and Homelessness Plan for Marathon County.

17 Build literacy in pre-schoolers. Identify and promote family-friendly business policies. Launch a community-wide campaign about the critical development that takes place throughout the first 39 weeks of pregnancy.

18 A Project of the Early Years Coalition is a website to share the latest in parent and caregiver advice, tips, and connections in Marathon County as we Raise Great Kids together!
