Personal data Born in Bergen, 21 January Competence My formal education is a Doctoral degree in Humanistic Informatics, which is a field in the intersection between informatics and the humanities. Humanistic informatics involves "traditional" technical subjects, like computer programming, network structures, web technologies etc., as well as humanistic and critical perspectives on information and communication technology, for instance exploring the relationship between technological development and social change. My competences related to the field of Humanistic informatics include knowledge about information and communication technology on a technical, conceptual and practical level. It includes years of teaching computer programming and data structures together with system knowledge and ability to critically question the role or consequences of technology. My main research interests are concerned with how we perceive and appropriate technology, how we create meaning in relation to technology, and in particular how perceptions of gender are tied to technology, technology use and users. General competences from my field of research include tools and methods to explore and understand how meaning is shaped and reshaped in particular social settings, for instance how a particular social group appropriates (or not) particular technologies. My teaching experience includes all levels starting with children aged 6 in primary school, junior high, high school and at all university levels. My administrative experience includes 2 years as a study coordinator for Digital Culture's BA and MA programs, as well as 2 years as member of the Executive Group and Head of Education at Department of Linguistic, Literary and Aesthetic Studies, University of Bergen, with responsibility for a total of 10 different Bachelor degrees, 11 Master degrees, Ph.D. education and several internet based studies.
