Violence against women: an EU-wide survey, (2014) report from the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA). Discussions and reflections: the importance of prevalence studies. How do we interpret the statistics and what can we conclude from them? How can these results influence policy making? Implementation and other practical consequences. This seminar is directed toward researchers, clinicians and practitioners.

Ole Kristian Hjemdal, PhD, Senior researcher at the Norwegian Center for Violence and Stress Studies. His areas of expertise include: violence, treatment of victims of violence, sociology of law. John Devaney, Phd, Senior Lecturer and Director of Education at the School of Sociology, Social Policy and Social Work, Queen s University, Belfast, Ireland. His areas of expertise include: social work, sexual violence, child abuse and neglect, child welfare, child maltreatment, family and child policy and sociology. Siri Thoresen, PhD, Senior researcher at the Norwegian Center for Violence and Traumatic Stress Studies. Her areas of expertise include: violence and trauma, war, disasters, terror, suicide, military- and emergency personnel Mona-Iren Hauge, PhD, Senior researcher and Head of Research Section for Children and Adolescents at the Norwegian Center for Violence and Traumatic Stress Studies. Her areas of expertise include: children and adolescents, developmental psychology, migration, ethnicity, gender and harmful traditions. Steven Lucas, MD, PhD, Senior Doctor in Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, Researcher at the Institute for Women and Children s Health at the National Center for Knowledge on Men s Violence Against Women (NCK), Uppsala University, Sweden. His areas of expertise include: the long-term affects the exposure to; violence, sexual violence and neglect in childhood and adult life has on physical and mental health. Arni Hole, PhD, and BA in History of Economics. Director General for Family Policies, Children and Youth, Equality and Social Inclusion, Head of research in the Research Policy Council of Norway, research fellow at the Institute of Philosophy, University of Oslo and one of the founding initiators of our center, NKVTS. Her areas of expertise are: international affairs, family/work life issues, and equality and gender issues.
