Senator Payne: Any of the trade training centres that are in operation or any of the projects that have been approved under the latest funding round, which is round 5 to which you are referring, they will continue. Senator O NEILL: I am very pleased to hear that. I am a bit concerned about some of our regional development authority funding but this is good to hear about trade training centres. What is the average construction cost? Mr Hehir: I will have to take that on notice. The costs vary quite a lot. Senator O NEILL: Will you be able to provide a breakdown of the level of investment that will be made in each of the 135 trade training centres that were approved in round 5 phase 1? Mr Hehir: I will have to take that on notice. Answer In-principle funding was announced on 14 August 2013 for 137 projects under Round Five (Phase One) of the Trade Training s in Schools Program. One project subsequently withdrew after the announcement. The average funding to be provided by the Australian Government for construction of projects under Round Five (Phase One) is $1.2 million. This includes funding for capital works and project management costs. This does not include the contribution being made by some schools who are contributing their own funding to projects. The level of investment for the 136 projects (involving 222 lead and partner schools) under Round Five (Phase One) is provided in the attached table.
