STRENGTH--- Handling medico legal post mortem, Attending court evidence and facing cross examination. This Institute is the one of few medical colleges of India who is preparing a computerized post-mortem reports. This department has highly efficient and dedicated faculty. The number of publications are commendable. Dr Balbir Kaur has been awarded as a life time achievement award for her contribution to Forensic Medicine. WEAKNESS----There is always a pressure by the relatives of the dead bodies regarding not to inform the police and hand over the body without conducting the post-mortem. OPPORTUNITY---Future is bright and the students are well placed. CHALLENGE to handle Decomposed bodies. All Medical officers run away to do post mortem on decomposed bodies. They are afraid of handling P.M on Decomposed bodies. To prepare the post-mortem reports up to the level of satisfaction of police officers, lawyer, judicial officers and relatives of the victims. 52. Future plans of the department. Motivate MBBS Graduates to join Forensic Medicine department as more experts are required for conducting medico legal work.
