1 Fall Webinar September 10, :00 noon to 1:00 PM When Patient Safety and Medical Malpractice Allegations Collide: The Doctor, the Lawyer, the Nurse and Risk Management Views Summary The delivery of healthcare continues to change and evolve around patient centered care, population health, accountable care and reimbursement. Despite the commitment and efforts toward the delivery of safe high quality care, patients may be harmed or injured. And, despite these efforts, we still see communication failures, medication errors, human errors and systemic failures that result in allegations of medical malpractice or negligence. The panel of experts will share their perspectives on three cases and discuss risk reduction strategies. Objectives Examine the legal liabilities of communication failures Discuss how human errors and system failures are viewed from four perspectives Identify strategies for improving patient safety outcomes Mary G. Gregg, MD, FACS, MHA John C. West, JD, MHA, DFASHRM, CPHRM Speakers biographies attached Darcy D. Dober, RN, BSN Nan L. Holland, RN, BSN, MPH, CPHRM Webinar Fees $30 for NC ASHRM members $60 for NC ASHRM members for a site location with 3 or more participants $75 for non members Registration Registration is online only at ashrm.org/education events.html
