1 Speaker Bios Robert Graham, MD Director, National Program Office Aligning Forces for Quality Program Research Professor, Department of Health Policy George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services Washington, DC Robert Graham is national program director of the Aligning Forces for Quality Program (AF4Q), the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation s signature effort to strengthen the health care system by improving the quality and equality of care. AF4Q, which brings together providers, consumers, and public and private sector payers to promote innovation, is currently based in 16 sites across the United States, with the national program office housed at George Washington University. An expert in health policy and family medicine, Dr. Graham has written and spoken extensively about health care reform, the need for universal coverage, federal workforce health policy and the organizational characteristics of effective health systems. He held the position of endowed chair in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine from 2005 to 2011 and remains an adjunct professor at that school. Previously, Dr. Graham held leadership positions in the federal government, including Administrator of the Health Resources and Services Administration and senior positions at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. From 1985 to 2000, he headed the American Academy of Family Physicians. Currently, Dr. Graham chairs the board of the Alliance for Health Reform and is a member of the Institute of Medicine. John Langefeld, MD Chief Medical Officer Kentucky Department of Medicaid Cabinet for Health and Family Services Frankfort, KY Dr. John Langefeld serves as the Chief Medical Officer for the Kentucky Department of Medicaid in the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. A Lexington resident and graduate of the University of Louisville School of Medicine, Dr. Langefeld has extensive health care experience in clinical care, provider management, managed care, large employer-sponsored benefit programs, Worker s Compensation/Disability, and data analytics and information management. Previously, Dr. Langefeld was the chief medical officer for Artemetrx, a Tennessee-based company with an office in Lexington that specializes in how data analysis can aid in clinical outcomes that has worked with many large employers and public entities. Prior to Artemetrx, Dr. Langefeld was 1

2 the medical director and vice president of healthcare management for Bluegrass Family Health in Lexington. He has also held several medical director and clinical positions. A Kentucky native, Dr. Langefeld completed his undergraduate work at Berea College, a family practice residency at St. Elizabeth Medical Center and served as an assistant professor at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. He currently also serves as an instructor in family and geriatric medicine at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Kay Ciliberti, RN Network Director Patient Centered Primary Care Program Anthem Louisville, KY Kay is the Network Management Director for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield s Patient Centered Primary Care Program for Kentucky and Southern Indiana. With over 20 years of experience in Managed Care, she served as the Manager of Case Management at Anthem as well as other various roles within Medical Management. Kay is a registered Nurse and a Certified Case Manager. Mike Funk Vice President Provider Development Center of Excellence Humana Louisville, KY Mike Funk serves as Vice President, Operations for the Provider Development, Center of Excellence at Humana based in Louisville, KY. His experience includes; executive positions in hospital administration, physician practice management, managed care, insurance products and health and wellness services. Mike is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and currently is completing credentialing to become a Certified Medical Practice Executive. He has more than 32 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Mike is a native of Kentucky and a University of Kentucky graduate. Leah Brunie, CNP Advanced Practice Nurse Summit Family Physicians, Inc Middletown, OH Leah Brunie graduated from Wright State University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing. From , Brunie worked as a bedside nurse at Miami Valley Hospital in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. In 2007, after obtaining her Nurse Practitioner's license, Leah moved to Cairo, Egypt, where she worked as a U.S. Army contractor at an Egyptian 2

3 military hospital as the Director of Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Services. In 2011, Brunie moved back to Ohio and now works as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Summit Family Physicians, Inc., a level 3 NCQA Patient Centered Medical Home and Comprehensive Primary Care Initiative practice. Robyn Chatman, MD, MPH, CPE, FAAFP, CPHIMS, CHEP Medical Director Dr. Chatman is a family practitioner and serves as the Beacon Medical Director for. Greater Cincinnati is one of the 17 Beacon Communities that are building and strengthening local health IT infrastructure and testing innovative approaches to make measurable improvements in quality, cost, and population health. The Beacon Community Program is funded by the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) for Health Information Technology, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Previously Dr. Chatman provided primary care services to area residents in a variety of settings. She was managing partner of a group of three physicians at Trinity Family Medicine and medical director at Caring Hearts Home Health Care. Dr. Chatman served as the President of the Academy of Medicine of Cincinnati from September 2012 through September A member of the Academy Council since 2003, Dr. Chatman has also served as academy secretary and treasurer and on several committees. She represents the academy on the Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky Healthcare Foundation, at which she holds the position of first vice-president. Additionally, Dr. Chatman is active in the Ohio State Medical Association, serving as first district councilor, representing southwest Ohio, and as a delegate to the American Medical Association. Dr. Chatman received her medical degree in 1994 from the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo and completed a family practice residency at Cincinnati s Bethesda Hospital in Mary Zile, BSN Director, Practice Consulting Tri-State REC Mary Zile has extensive clinical experience, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master in Health Services Administration. She is the Director of Practice Consulting at and the Tri-State Regional Extension Center. Mary leads the team of practice consultants in planning and implementing health information technology solutions across the healthcare continuum including primary, specialty, and tertiary care settings. Mary has extensive nursing experience in cardiac and surgical intensive care, telemetry, surgical step-down, medical-surgical and cardiac telemetry in addition to other hospital settings. She also 3

4 has management and clinical experience in urgent care and occupational healthcare settings. Mary was the practice manager for an outpatient primary care office and led an early EHR implementation in She led the primary care site in practice transformation, evidenced by achieving National Committee of Quality Assurance Patient Centered Medical Home level 3, public reporting programs including Bridges to Excellence level 3, and HealthMeasures level 3, with the rural practice ranking third out of forty practices in the Cincinnati region. In addition, she led the practice in a joint effort through the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Health Improvement Collaborative Primary Care Innovation Group project, with significant improvements in diabetic outcomes. Stefanie Strinko MBA, PMP, CPHIMS, PCMHE Project Management Officer Kentucky REC Lexington, KY Stefanie Strinko is the Project Management Officer at the Kentucky Regional Extension Center overseeing and administering all major Kentucky REC engagements providing EHR implementation and optimization support, Meaningful Use attestation and incentive optimization, Clinical Decision Support (CDS) for work-flow analysis and Clinical Quality Measure (CQM) improvement. Stefanie provides EHR and Meaningful Use support to over 300 providers in over 87 locations in the Tri-State area. Additionally, Stefanie is a Certified Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Expert. She developed Kentucky REC s PCMH program and currently manages a team that assists providers in achieving PCMH recognition. Stefanie has a degree in finance and economics from the University of Kentucky as well as an MBA from Xavier University. She has worked with electronic health systems for over 9 years. Wendy Bridge Practice Consultant Wendy Bridge is a PCMH Certified Content Expert who has worked in the health care field for over twenty years. She operated a three location practice for over 17 years. Wendy was responsible for day to day operation of this practice and its staff, filling any and all roles including management, payroll, human resources, billing, patient care, workflow, and patient education. She was also responsible for transitioning the practice to an electronic health record system in 1991, well before most practices. Wendy has consulted with many practices over the years to help them with workflow, staff issues, management protocols and patient care. Wendy is currently a consultant at the Tri-State REC. She has assisted over 140 providers in many different care settings with Meaningful Use Attestation. 4

5 Fran Reynolds, PMP, PCMH, CCE Practice Consultant Fran has been involved in healthcare information technology for 20+ years. Fran is a practice consultant at and the Tri-State Regional Extension Center. She uses her project management expertise in practices to assist in selecting, implementing, and using an EHR. Prior to joining, she was a business analyst at MedPlus, a Quest Diagnostics company, working on health information exchange (HIE) projects for the South Dakota Department of Health and the New Mexico Health Information Exchange. She researched and developed enhancements and new requirements for the company s Care360 EHR product, including requirements management of the interface with the company s new Patient Management application. Fran has also been the Director of Product Development for LanVision s (now Streamline Health) imaging products. Previously she served as Manager of Sales Support and a Project Manager for end-to-end hospital implementations at McKesson. During her time at two major Cincinnati area hospitals, she managed billing offices and, later worked in the IT department designing registration and billing applications. Fran is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with a Master Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University. She earned her Master of Science in Organizational Leadership degree from The College of Mount Saint Joseph in 2005 and she holds a BS in Accounting from the University of Cincinnati. Rob Edwards, MBA Executive Director Kentucky Regional Extension Center Director of Strategic Initiatives & Regulatory Affairs UK HealthCare Rob Edwards serves as the Executive Director of the Kentucky Regional Extension Center as well as the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Regulatory Affairs for UK HealthCare. Previously, Edwards was appointed to serve in various roles at the Kentucky Cabinet for Health & Family Services, including chief of staff, budget director and legislative director. He earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Louisville, and undergraduate degree from Centre College. He has co-authored several articles on health care reform, including The Medicare to Medicaid Crossover: An Open Door to Waste and Fraud in Stop Paying the Crooks: Solutions to End the Fraud that Threatens Your Healthcare and Delivery System and Payment Changes as 5

6 Proposed in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 in 2011 Health Law & Compliance. Trudi Matthews Director of Policy and Business Development Trudi Matthews is the Director of Policy and Public Relations with. Trudi gave leadership to s successful collaborations for Regional Extension Center, Beacon Community Program and Nationwide Health Information Network funding, with awards totaling more than $26 million. Previously Trudi was Senior Policy Advisor with the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services where she served as coordinator for Kentucky s statewide e-health efforts. Prior to that, Trudi was Associate Director for Health Policy at the Council for State Governments. Trudi received her B.A. and M.A. in political science from Iowa State University. 6
