No. MLA/REC/ /04 CALL F SCIENTIIFIC AND TECHNICAL PERSONNEL TO WK AT R&D PROJECTS OF MEDIA LAB ASIA ON FIXED TERM CONTRACT BASIS Media Lab Asia REQUIRES Result Oriented Persons to work in its projects:- (i) Open Source CAD (Computer Aided Designing) Tool for the Weaving of Banarasi Sarees (ii) Visual Speech Training Software for the Hearing Impaired Media Lab Asia has been set up by the Ministry of Communications & Information Technology, Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Government of India, to innovate, develop and deploy ICT and other emerging technologies for the benefit of the common man. The objective of Media Lab Asia is to bring the benefits of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and other advanced technologies to the common man. Media Lab Asia was incorporated under Section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956 on September 20, 2001 as a company without having a share capital and limited by guarantee. The current manpower requirement is for the following projects :- (i) Open Source Computer Aided Designing (CAD) Tool for Weaving of Banarasi Saree - The objective of the project is to provide a Free Open Source Software (FOSS) solution for the Banarasi saree weavers by developing a user friendly CAD (Computer Aided Designing) tool. (ii) Visual Speech Training Software for the Hearing Impaired - The aim of the project is to develop the software for a Visual Speech Training Aid, as a desktop based application. 1. All positions are on contract appointment basis covering fixed duration and on consolidated salaries. The appointments shall be initially for a period of one year and extendable for further periods based on the performance of the candidate and the project needs, co-terminus with the project duration. The place of postings in case of project (i) shall be in Delhi and project (ii) shall be in Mumbai or Delhi, but transferable on All India basis as per existing policy of Media Lab Asia. 3 1.2 Qualifications and Experiences 1 st Class B.E./B.Tech./MCA/ or equivalent Degree in relevant discipline with 2 to 3 years of experience. Postgraduate in Engineering/Technology in relevant discipline with minimum 1 year of experience. 1 st Class Postgraduate Degree in Science in relevant discipline or Postgraduate Degree in domain specific discipline with minimum 2 years of experience. Relevant Discipline/Field: Computer Science & Engineering/ Information Technology/ Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering/Textile Engineering/Mechanical Engineering Experience : Experience mentioned should be post-qualification in relevant area. 1.3 Required Skill Set Working experience on Java/J2EE, Java Script, XML. Working experience in development environments, debugging tools and source control system Good knowledge of OOPS, relational databases, web services using REST / SOAP. 1.4 Desirable Skill Set Experience related to textile design and CAD. Experience of working on image processing and simulation. Passion for best design and coding practices and a desire to develop new ideas Experience for working on software tools Eclipse IDE, SQL Workbench, LAMP, SVN, Web and database security Experience in cross platform development, worked in products or technologies that have scalable architectures. 9 Relevant Discipline/Field: Computer Science & Engineering/ Information Technology/ Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering/ Bio-medical Engineering Experience : Experience mentioned should be post-qualification in relevant area. 4.3 Required Skill Set Experience in computer animation, digital arts, two and three-dimensional design, drawing or illustration and other multimedia work Demonstrate hands-on skills in Adobe Flash, 3ds Max, Maya and other animation software Have the ability to develop multiple visual designs and integrate the same with other applications 4.4 Desirable Skill Set Passion for best animation and design practices and a desire to develop new ideas Experience of working on animation and simulation. 10 General Conditions applicable to all applicants covered under this advertisement: 1. All the Positions are purely temporary in nature for the project of Media Lab Asia and the appointees shall not derive any right or claim for permanent appointment at Media Lab Asia or on any vacancies existing or that shall be advertised for recruitment by Media Lab Asia in future. The Media Lab Asia reserves the right to terminate the appointments of all positions with a notice of one month or without any notice by paying one month s salary in lieu of the notice period. 4. The maximum age shall be as on the last date of receipt of the applications. 5. For each post, a separate application is necessary. 6. The Application Form duly filled in and signed with photograph should be submitted in a sealed envelope and the envelope should be superscribed with the post applied for and the corresponding Post Code. 7. Screening of applications will be based on qualifications, age, academic record and relevant experience. Media Lab Asia reserves the right to fix higher threshold of standards for screening in case of overwhelming response. Written examination would be conducted where necessary at the discretion of, Media Lab Asia. Only short listed candidates shall be invited for selection interviews.
