2 The IoD is offering a personalised Director Coaching Service which provides one-to-one coaching, in a confidential setting, to assist and enhance the individual performance of directors and therefore, the boards on which they sit. Designed to complement the existing suite of director and board development services offered by the IoD, this one-to-one service provides directors with access to coaches with a wealth of business experience and with whom they can explore how to develop and enhance their contribution to the boards on which they sit.

3 Who is this service for? * Directors committed to self-development * Newly appointed directors of public, private or not-for-profit organisations * Senior executives who are planning for executive or non-executive directorships * Directors who are transitioning from one sector to another * Directors who wish to refresh and update their skills * Directors who are facing a particular issue on a board on which they sit * Chairpersons of boards seeking to improve their chairing skills, including dealing with difficult inter-personal interactions in the boardroom What does the service entail? The service includes an initial free introduction /consultation (Dublin based). This will allow the director and coach to discuss and consider the director s requirements and to scope out the range of coaching options. Following this session, and on confirmation that the director wishes to proceed, the coach will provide an outline for future sessions and mutually agreed desired outcomes. The coaches each have significant senior executive experience and have held substantial director / chairperson roles, as well as having professional coaching qualifications and experience. The coaching offering will be individually tailored, however, it is envisaged that assignments will have a duration of 6 to 12 months, with each coaching session lasting approximately two hours.

4 Meet the Coaches Helen Keelan has 25 years of senior finance and strategic leadership experience gained in KMPG, Ericsson and Intel. She is familiar with the challenges both of re-structuring and of scaling companies globally. She is an experienced non-executive director and is currently on the board of Barclays Bank Ireland plc, PM Group Ltd, Liberty Insurance Ltd and Córas Iompair Éireann (CIE). She is a consultant for strategy development, leadership and governance and she undertakes Board Performance Evaluation and Development on behalf of the Institute of Directors in Ireland. Helen holds a Masters of Science in Management (TCD) and a Commerce Degree (UCD). She has a Certificate in Professional Coaching (Henley Business School). She is a Chartered Director and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland. David MacDonald has been working as an independent consultant since Since then, he has spent most of his time in a mentoring role with chief executives and senior management, facilitating strategic planning and organisational development. Prior to this, David worked at senior levels in five different multinational companies over a period of almost 30 years, holding GM/ MD/ CEO positions for 10 years. David has lived and worked in Belgium, USA and the UK, and has been responsible for growing businesses in several international economies. He has served as Chairman or non-executive director in several companies. He is currently Chairman of Xcelerator Machine Translations, and is non-executive director of Brown Bag Films, as well as chairing a Governance Board on behalf of Science Foundation Ireland. David graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1971 with an Honours degree in Natural Sciences, completed an MSc in Management Practice in 1987, and holds a diploma in Executive Coaching from UCD/Smurfit.
