Following the 8 a.m. Mass and concluding at 10 p.m. SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM Parents of infants requesting information about Baptism may contact the parish office. Infant baptisms are celebrated on the second Saturday of the month. CELEBRATION OF CHRISTIAN FUNERALS At the time of death, a family member should contact the parish office, as soon as possible, to arrange the date and time for the Funeral Liturgy. (You can deduct the 3 weeks of vacation, if you wish.) Bishop Vann is coming here to preside over the Rite of Installation of a Pastor. As the Chief Shepherd of the Diocese of Orange, he is entrusting me with the Ministerial Care of the people of the Parish of St. Catherine of Siena. This is not a new journey, but a continuation of that faith journey which started with the first Catholic Christians here in Laguna Beach. As I pledge my support to you, I only ask that you do the same. I pray we can continue to develop and grow as a faith community so that our Catholic presence can make a difference here in this beautiful coastal community of Laguna Beach God Bless You. What has made his name so famous was his critical labor on the text of the Scriptures. The Church regards him as the greatest of all the doctors in clarifying the Divine Word. He had the best available aids for such an undertaking, living where the remains of Biblical places, names, and customs all combined to give him a more vivid view than he could have had at a greater distance. To continue his study of Hebrew he hired a famous Jewish scholar, Bar Ananias, who came to teach him by night, lest other Jews should learn of it. As a man of prayer and purity of heart whose life had been mainly spent in study, penance, and contemplation, Jerome was prepared to be a sensitive interpreter of spiritual things. St. Jerome is the patron of librarians.
