Integrating iviews for Related Content related logging with SAP Portal s logging system Overview This section contains the following topics: Introducing SAP s definition of logging and tracing, page 37 Integrating iviews for Related Content and SAP Portal logging, page 39 Introducing SAP s definition of logging and tracing Overview You can integrate iviews for Related Content related logging with SAP Portal s logging system. SAP logging clearly differentiates between logs and traces. This section contains the following topics: Logging, page 38 Tracing, page 38 Difference between logging and tracing, page 38 Mapping Log4j s severity levels with SAP logging s severity levels, page 38 EMC Documentum Content Services for SAP iviews for Related Content Version 6.0 Administration Guide 37

Logging SAP defines logging as creating and storing a permanent record of events that can be reviewed, printed, and analyzed. This record usually contains information about the source of the record, a timestamp of the event, a message, and a severity which specifies the importance of the record. All the information of an event is recorded; administrators use this information to control the status of the system, the database, and all applications. Logs get written automatically and with a predefined granularity (severity), which can be modified during runtime. SAP intends for logs to be used by administrators. Logs have a.log file extension. Tracing SAP defines tracing as a utility that writes detailed information about an operation to an output file. The trace facility produces a detailed sequence of statements that describe the events of an operation as they are executed. Administrators and developers use the trace facility for diagnosing an abnormal condition; therefore tracing is not normally turned on. Traces can be switched on if a problem has occurred and a detailed analysis of a distinct part of a program is necessary. SAP intends for traces to be used by developers. Traces have a.trc file extension. Difference between logging and tracing Logs are normally written to categories and traces are normally written to locations. Categories are semantic topics corresponding generally to administration tasks. Locations refer to certain points in the software code and can be identified with package, class, or function names. Mapping Log4j s severity levels with SAP logging s severity levels The following table indicates how Log4j s severity levels are mapped to SAP logging s severity levels, and the destination where the messages will be written to. Table 2. Mapping Log4j s severity levels with SAP logging s severity levels This log4j severity level Debug Info Is treated in SAP logging as follows Written to trace files. Written to log files. Category defined in the log4j configuration file. 38 EMC Documentum Content Services for SAP iviews for Related Content Version 6.0 Administration Guide

This log4j severity level Warn Error Fatal Other (user defined severity level) Is treated in SAP logging as follows Written to log files. Category defined in the log4j configuration file. Written to log files. Category defined in the log4j configuration file. Written to log files. Category defined in the log4j configuration file. Written to log files. Category defined in the log4j configuration file. Integrating iviews for Related Content and SAP Portal logging Overview By default, iviews for Related Content logging system is enabled so that it can be configured with SAP Portal logging. The log4j_ivrc.properties file contains the following code snippet that enables the integration of these two logging systems: log4j.appender.saplogging=com.documentum.ei.eplogging.saplogappender log4j.appender.saplogging.categoryname=documentum/ivrc Note: To disable the integration of the two logging systems, comment the code snippet referenced previously. When you integrate the two logging systems, log4j_ivrc behaves as the first level of logging; you can control the severity of the log messages going into SAP logging depending on the settings specified in the log4j_ivrc.properties file. This section contains the following topics: Configuring the severity of logging in SAP, page 39 Viewing IVRC related logs in SAP, page 41 Configuring the severity of logging in SAP Depending on the severity of the log4j log messages, they are written either to SAP s default trace or the appropriate log category. User mapping Overview iviews for Related Content allows administrators to implement single sign on authentication for users when accessing EMC Documentum repositories from within SAP Portal. This is done in the following two ways: Configuring a common user base using identical login names in EMC Documentum repository and SAP Portal. A common user base, using identical login names in an EMC Documentum repository and SAP Portal, can be achieved by IT conventions; common user bases can also be achieved by configuring EMC Documentum Content Server and SAP NetWeaver to point to users in a common LDAP directory server. More information is in the Configuring LDAP settings for EMC Documentum Content Server and SAP NetWeaver section of the EMC Documentum Content Services for SAP Portal iviews for Related Content Installation Guide). Implementing user mapping in SAP Portal User mapping allows SAP Portal users to seamlessly access EMC Documentum repository objects; this ensures that users do not have to authenticate themselves specifically for the purpose of accessing a repository to which they have been assigned access privileges. Single sign on authentication using user mappings allows you to have differently named users in EMC Documentum and SAP Portal. User mapping can be done in the following ways: User mapping with administrative privileges, page 53 User mapping with standard user privileges, page 53 52 EMC Documentum Content Services for SAP iviews for Related Content Version 6.0 Administration Guide

Figure 8. Documentum Event Sender iview s interface The Documentum Event Sender iview contains the following elements: Object ID Key Name Specify the name of the object key. If the key consists of more than one part then separate it with the ampersand (&) symbol. The format for the key need not be specified here. For example, instead of specifying type@number/l025@part/l03@version/l02, just specify type&number&part&version. Object ID Specify the key/value pairs in this box. For example, objid=p 101. Note: For events that have multiple part keys (for example, urn:com.sap.bor:draw events), specify the values of all the parts of the key. Event URN Specify the event s Universal Resource Name (URN) without the event type. For example, urn:com.sap.bor:draw. Ensure that the Documentum Event Controller is listening to this event URN. Note: For events that have multiple part keys (for example, urn:com.sap.bor:draw events), specify all the parts of the key, and separate the parts with the ampersand (&) symbol. Event Name Specify the event type, such as select, refresh, and so on. Ensure that the Documentum Event Controller is listening to this event URN. The default values available in the Documentum Event Sender iview relate to the EQUI event in SAP. Note: To populate the text boxes in the iview, either type the required values in the text box or select a value from the corresponding drop down list. When you select a value from a drop down list, the corresponding text box on the right hand side gets populated with the selected value. If you have typed a value in a text box, then that value takes precedence over the value selected from the corresponding drop down list. If no value has been specified in a text box, then IVRC uses the selected value from the 68 EMC Documentum Content Services for SAP iviews for Related Content Version 6.0 Administration Guide

corresponding drop down list. Depending on your needs, you may use the text boxes for some parameters and drop down lists for some other parameters. Sample values Sample values to simulate events sent by the FI application are as follows: Parameter Object ID Key Name Object ID Event URN Event Name Value BUKRS&BELNR&GJAHR BUKRS=2000&BELNR=10000&GJAHR=2000 urn:com.documentum.pct.ei. epiviews:fi_browser select Working with query templates using DA or Webtop Overview The IVRC iviews offer a choice of options, under which the related content is determined. The list of available options can be configured by adding or modifying query template objects as described in this section. Query template objects appear in the Select Query drop down list of the Link Documentum and Search Documentum iviews, and determine the columns and rows displayed in the tables. More information is in Introducing Link Documentum iview s interface, page 19 and Introducing Search Documentum iview s interface, page 23. IVRC supports two types of query templates: DQL query templates DQL query templates comprise two EMC Documentum repository objects of the following types: dm_query sap_action_link_doc_object This type is installed when installing the EI_Core_Docapp DocApp archive. EMC Documentum Content Services for SAP iviews for Related Content Version 6.0 Administration Guide 69

Non DQL query templates Non DQL query templates comprise the following EMC Documentum repository object type: sap_action_link_doc_object. This type is installed when installing the EI_Core_Docapp DocApp archive. Use query templates to create soft links between an SAP object and a query templates (DQL queries); soft links create relationships between an SAP object and the resultset of a linked DQL query. Creating a soft link essentially involves the following steps: 1. Identifying the attributes of EMC Documentum objects that need to be mapped to an SAP object ID. 2. Creating a DQL query that references the EMC Documentum object s attributes that were identified in the previous step. More information on creating DQL queries is in Creating DQL based query templates, page 71. 3. Creating a link type whose sap_object_type attribute is set to DQL. More information on creating link types is in Creating an sap_action_link_doc_object object, page 72. 4. Referencing the DQL query (created in step 2) in the link type created in step 3. More information on referencing DQL queries in link types is in Creating an sap_action_link_doc_object object, page 72. 5. Ensuring that the EMC Documentum attributes (identified in step 1) of documents that you would like to link to a DQL query (created in step 2) are populated in the following ways: When content authors check in content to a repository When executing automation utilities such as Replicate SAP jobs (a feature in the Content Services for SAP software) For example, if the DQL query is looking for documents containing the keyword Electric Pump 001, ensure that the keyword attribute of the document that you want to link to is populated with Electric Pump 001. Using IVRC to work with DCM controlled documents Overview Documentum Compliance Manager (DCM) allows you to manage large volumes of documents that must comply with regulatory and quality standards. DCM defines document properties, access permissions, and change management processes for each document type during each stage of its lifecycle from initial draft to publication through retirement. If you need to access DCM controlled documents using IVRC, perform the configurations described in this section to ensure that: IVRC does not violate the document properties, access permissions, and change management processes set for documents by DCM. You can work with the documents in DCM from SAP Portal. In order to use IVRC to work with DCM controlled documents, you should: Implement BOF customization for IVRC. More information is in the Working with BOF customization section of EMC Documentum Content Services for SAP Portal iviews for Related Content Installation Guide. Configure IVRC to open DCM controlled documents in WDK based applications such as DCM. More information is in Modifying the IVRC configuration object, page 41. EMC Documentum Content Services for SAP iviews for Related Content Version 6.0 Administration Guide 83

Configure IVRC to access DCM controlled documents from the context menu. More information on this task is in the Configuring IVRC to access DCM controlled documents from the context menu section of the EMC Documentum Content Services for SAP Portal Repository Manager Administration Guide. Note: Perform this task only if you have configured IVRC to use Content Services for SAP Portal Repository Manager to view and edit content. More information is in Modifying the IVRC configuration object, page 41. Support for EMC Documentum PDF Annotation Services IVRC is compatible with EMC Documentum s PDF Annotation Services. This means that from the iviews, you will be able to annotate PDF documents using Webtop. PDF Annotation Services must be installed and configured for this purpose. Note: You will need at least relate permission to be able to use the annotation services. You need not checkout a document to be able to annotate. More information is in the PDF Annotation Services documentation. 84 EMC Documentum Content Services for SAP iviews for Related Content Version 6.0 Administration Guide

Chapter 4 Troubleshooting IVRC Overview This chapter discusses commonly encountered issues in iviews for Related Content and how you can resolve them. The topics covered in this chapter are as follows: Operation aborted when trying to log in to SAP Portal or refreshing page in SAP Portal, page 85 Unable to open pages for which Documentum Event Controller iview has been configured, page 86 FI and PrintList Browser iviews fail to load, page 87 Case sensitivity issues when using principal authentication, page 88 High levels of logging, page 89 Logging details appear in a pop up window, page 91 Documentum Event Controller iview shows connection errors, page 91 Unable to delete links between an EMC Documentum object and SAP R/3 object, page 92 Operation aborted when trying to log in to SAP Portal or refreshing page in SAP Portal Problem statement When you try to log in to SAP Portal or refresh a page in SAP Portal, the following error message appears: <Browser> cannot open Internet site <SAP Portal URL> Operation Aborted EMC Documentum Content Services for SAP iviews for Related Content Version 6.0 Administration Guide 85

Troubleshooting IVRC Possible causes The delay time, taken by Documentum Event Controller, before sending the first event to Web Dynpro is insufficient. Suggested resolution Increase the value of the com.documentum.pct.ei.epiviews.delay_event parameter of the Documentum Event Controller iview. More information is in Configuring the Documentum Event Controller iview, page 62). Experiment with the value by gradually increasing it; continue doing so until you do not get the error. Unable to open pages for which Documentum Event Controller iview has been configured Problem statement When you try to access a page for which the Documentum Event Controller iview has been configured, the following error message appears: Portal Runtime Error An exception occurred while processing a request for : iview : pcd:portal_content/com.documentum.documentum/com.documentum.ei.epiviews. epiviews/com.documentum.ei.events/com.documentum.pct.ei.epiviews. DmEventController Possible causes The process size memory setting for the SAP J2EE server has been specified incorrectly. 86 EMC Documentum Content Services for SAP iviews for Related Content Version 6.0 Administration Guide

Troubleshooting IVRC Suggested resolution Specify the correct process size memory setting for the SAP J2EE server. More information is in SAP note 644209 available in the SAP Service Center (http://service.sap.com). FI and PrintList Browser iviews fail to load Case 1 Problem statement When you try to view FI and PrintList Browser iviews, the following error message is displayed: com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.wdtypenotfoundexception: type com.documentum.ei.epiviews.fibrowser.model.types. So_Text001 could not be loaded: com.sap.dictionary.runtime.ddexception: Possible causes The SLD and JCos for the FI and PrintList Browsers iviews have not been configured before using them. Suggested resolution Before you can use the FI and PrintList Browser iviews, configure the SLD and JCos. More information is in Configuring SLD for FI and PrintList browsers, page 50. EMC Documentum Content Services for SAP iviews for Related Content Version 6.0 Administration Guide 87

Troubleshooting IVRC Case 2 Problem statement After configuring the SLD and JCos as indicated in Configuring SLD for FI and PrintList browsers, page 50, when you try accessing one of the sample FI Document Browser iviews, the iview fails to load and one of the following error message might be displayed: com.sap.mw.jco.jco$exception: (104) RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE: The function module "DD_LANGU_TO_ISOLA" not released for remote calls. com.sap.mw.jco.jco$exception: (104) RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE: The function module "DD_DOMA_GET" not released for remote calls. Possible causes This issue might be caused because, depending on the error message, one of the following function modules have not been remote enabled: DD_LANGU_TO_ISOLA DD_DOMA_GET Suggested resolution Depending on the error message, resolve these issue by remote enabling one of the following function modules in SAP R/3: DD_LANGU_TO_ISOLA DD_DOMA_GET Case sensitivity issues when using principal authentication Problem statement When using principal authentication, sometimes, authentication against configured EMC Documentum repositories fails. 88 EMC Documentum Content Services for SAP iviews for Related Content Version 6.0 Administration Guide

Troubleshooting IVRC Possible causes In some installations, SAP Portal changes the username to upper case. So, if principal authentication is used and if the EMC Documentum repository s username is in lower case, then the authentication against the repository fails. Suggested resolution Set the user_auth_case parameter in your server.ini file to define the case of usernames in configured EMC Documentum repositories. This parameter converts the User ID string to either lower or upper case and validates against the repository. The default value is NONE; due to this setting, EMC Documentum validates the SAP Portal username against the configured repository verbatim. High levels of logging Problem statement In the system where SAP NetWeaver is installed, you may encounter high levels of logging. Possible causes The logging parameter for iviews for Related Content has been set to DEBUG. More information is in the log4j_ivrc.properties section of the EMC Documentum Content Services for SAP Portal iviews for Related Content Installation Guide. By default, this parameter is set as WARN. If you had set the logging parameter as DEBUG, iviews for Related Content logs each and every request; in a production environment, this can translate into extremely high logging levels. This causes the following problems: Because iviews for Related Content writes each and every request to a log, in a production environment, this take up enormous storage space. EMC Documentum Content Services for SAP iviews for Related Content Version 6.0 Administration Guide 89

Troubleshooting IVRC High levels of logging penalize the performance of the host in a production environment. When the logging level is set to DEBUG, iviews for Related Content writes certain parameters of each request to memory. With each request, the amount of memory used by iviews for Related Content increases incrementally. This leads to a performance penalty. Suggested resolution To change the logging level: 1. Open the log4j_ivrc.properties file. This file is available in the following location: In Windows: <DFC installation directory>\config In UNIX: <DFC installation directory>/config 2. Locate the following parameters: log4j.logger.com.documentum.ptc.ei.epiviews=<logging level> log4j.logger.com.documentum.ptc.ei.epiviews.dmeventcontroller= <logging level> log4j.logger.com.documentum.ei.repository=<logging level> Note: By default, the logging level is set as WARN. The log4j.logger.com.documentum.pct.ei.epiviews parameter determines the logging level for the Search Documentum and Link Documentum iviews. The log4j.logger.com.documentum.pct.ei.epiviews.dmeventcontroller parameter determines the logging level for Documentum Event Controller. The log4j.logger.com.documentum.ei.repository parameter determines the logging level for EMC Documentum repositories. 3. Depending on what level of logging you want, change the value of the specific logging parameters to INFO, WARN, or DEBUG. 4. Save the file. Note: Setting the logging level as DEBUG is only necessary when you need to troubleshoot any issues with iviews for Related Content. In a production environment, the DEBUG logging parameter for iviews for Related Content should be commented to turn it off. 90 EMC Documentum Content Services for SAP iviews for Related Content Version 6.0 Administration Guide

Troubleshooting IVRC You need not restart SAP Web AS for the updates to take effect. Updates are usually reflected in a couple of minutes. Logging details appear in a pop up window Problem statement When working with the IVRC GUI, logging detailed related to Documentum Event Controller appear in a pop up window. Possible causes The logging level for Documentum Event Controller has been set to DEBUG. Suggested resolution Locate the following parameter in the log4j_ivrc.properties file. More information is in the log4j_ivrc.properties section of the EMC Documentum Content Services for SAP Portal iviews for Related Content Installation Guide. log4j.logger.com.documentum.pct.ei.epiviews.dmeventcontroller=debug Depending on your requirements, change the value of the parameter to WARN or INFO. Save the file.
