3 Page 3 of Welcome Congratulations with your new program MobileStatus Server, a gateway between the Mobilstatus service from Ventelo and the Office Communications Server MobileStatus product which utilizes status information to enrich the Microsoft Office Communication Server presence information, and MobileStatus Viewer which can display status information. 1.1 Installation This guide is a description of the installation process and the configuration facilities of the MobileStatus Server program. For further information please also refer to the following guide: BluePosition Ventelo IP configuration : WP-VEN-UK-11, or later. 1.2 This Guide This guide is written with the purpose of guiding the user or administrator through the installation and configuration of MobileStatus Server. This version of the Installation and Configuration Guide is written for version 2.5 of the MobileStatus Server. You can access the version number of the MobileStatus Server in the menu item Help - About in the MobileStatus Server Configuration menu. 1.3 Introduction to MobileStatus MobileStatus Server is developed with the purpose of distributing the status information from the mobile network operator to the client software applications requiring status information. Currently: OCS MobileStatus Microsoft Office Communications Server integration with mobile phone status. Enables Office Communications Server clients such as Microsoft Office Communicator to display contacts mobile phone availability. MobileStatus Viewer PC application to show user s mobile phone availability. 1.4 System Requirements For MobileStatus Server to work properly, the following requirements are necessary: 1) The MobileStatus Server is designed to be used on a PC with Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 2003 Server, or Windows 2008 Server. 2) The MobileStatus Server requires communication with the status service of the mobile network operator through an Internet connection.

4 Page 4 of 16 3) The MobileStatus Server should be able to communicate with the clients using status information including OCS MobileStatus and MobileStatus Viewer through TCP/IP via the corporate network. Communication is done using TCP/IP over TCP port If the MobileStatus Server is placed in a DMZ or similar configuration, firewalls and proxies located between MobileStatus Server client applications and the MobileStatus Server must be configured to allow TCP traffic on that port. 1.5 Intellectual Property This program, including the user guides, manuals and other publications are copyright protected. No part of the software program or the publications may be reproduced or transferred in any form electronically or mechanically, without prior written acceptance from BluePosition ApS. 1.6 User License This program is covered by a server license. The server license entitles you to install and use the software on one single PC/server. The server license does NOT entitle you to have the program installed on several PCs at the same time, and the program must under NO circumstances be used on several PCs at the same time. Please visit for further information on this topic. 1.9 Used Syntax In this user guide the following syntax is used: Text in brackets i.e. [Answer] relates to a program button or keyboard key with the name included in the brackets. Text in quotes i.e. Call notes / Message relates to a dialog, status or input box with the name in question.

6 Page 6 of Installation The MobileStatus Server program is installed by executing the installation program Setup MobileStatus Server Ventelo.exe, supplied on CD-ROM or downloaded from the Internet. Figure 2.1: MobileStatus Server setup wizard. Please press [Next >] to continue the installation process.

Please read the Software License Agreement carefully and only check I accept the terms in the License Agreement and [Next >] to continue the installation if you understand and agree to the terms and conditions set forward in the agreement. Figure 2.3: The MobileStatus Server program location. MobileStatus installation program suggest per default to install the MobileStatus program in the folder C:\Program Files\MobileStatus Server. Any other destination folder can be selected by using the [Browse ] button. Please press [Install] to continue the installation process. During the installation process, the installation program will ask if it should configure the Windows Firewall. The modifications are necessary to allow the operator to push status

8 Page 8 of 16 messages to MobileStatus Server, and for the client applications to connect to the server. If the computer on which you are installing MobileStatus Server does not have Windows Firewall installed or enabled, the installation program may display an error message in that regards. This message can safely be ignored. Figure 2.4: Installation of the MobileStatus Server program files. The installation program subsequently installs the program and copies relevant files to the installation directory. 1 Figure 2.5: Finalizing the installation process. It is recommended that the Run configuration program is executed automatically. Press [Finish] to finalize the installation process and start the configuration of the MobileStatus Server program. 1 Note that if you are upgrading from a previous version, you must first stop the BluePosition MobileStatus Server service from the Windows services control panel applet. Otherwise the installer is not able to overwrite necessary files. The installer will display a warning prompt with regards to the service already being installed. This is not an error, and can safely be ignored.

9 Page 9 of Configuration of the MobileStatus Server The MobileStatus Server program consists of two parts, one being the server running as a Microsoft Windows Service, and the other being the configuration program which is a standard Windows application. The configuration program is installed on the same PC as the service. 3.1 MobileStatus Server Service The MobileStatus Server is deployed as a Windows service, and during the installation it is configured to start automatically. Services may be configured with service parameters by opening Services in Windows located under Administrative tools in the Control Panel. 3.2 The MobileStatus Configuration Window The MobileStatus Server is configured and managed through the MobileStatus Configuration program. Figure 3.2: The MobileStatus Configuration program. The configuration of the MobileStatus Server is done by choosing the menu item Edit Settings.

10 Page 10 of Settings The configuration of the MobileStatus Server contains four tab sheets, which you have to go through before completing the configuration: 1) License 2) Phonebook 3) 4) Web The four tab sheets above are described in details in the following sections. 5.0 License The License tab is used to enter the license information you have received. Enter the company name and license key exactly as the received license information. Figure 5.0: MobileStatus License The [Verify] button will check the license and verify that the entered information is valid. The MobileStatus Server will not function without a valid license. 6.0 Phonebook On the Phonebook tab you can open the phonebook editor as well as see the location of the MobileStatus Server phonebook.

11 Page 11 of 16 Figure 6.0: MobileStatus Phonebook configuration. The phonebook data file location displays which folder the MobileStatus Server phonebook is located in. This is purely for informational purposes. 6.1 Edit Phonebook Some MobileStatus client applications use the MobileStatus Server phonebook. The phonebook contains information about employees and their phone numbers. Currently, these client applications use the MobileStatus Server phonebook: MobileStatus Viewer Other client applications use an internal phonebook or have direct Active Directory integration. An example of a client application which uses direct Active Directory integration is OCS MobileStatus. The Edit phonebook window allows the user to manually enter contact information, or to import information from the Active Directory. Figure 6.1: Edit phonebook

12 Page 12 of 16 Manual editing of the phonebook is done by adding Name, Department, Telephone, and optionally the Extension (short number) of the contacts. To add a new contact, click the [New] button. To delete a contact, click the column containing the contact number (the left-most column) and then click [Delete]. It is possible to select multiple contacts by holding the CTRL or SHIFT buttons when clicking the contact number column. Automatic import from Active Directory is performed by clicking the [AD import] button. The default Active Directory import will import all user objects with a mobile phone number from the entire directory tree. To only import users from a specific organizational unit subtree, click the right side of the [AD import] button to open the drop down, and then click [Advanced]. Figure 5.2: Advanced AD import Enter the LDAP path of the organizational unit (OU) which contains the user objects you want to import.

13 Page 13 of On the tab you can add specific configuration related to sending s. MobileStatus Server can send alerts in case of problems. Figure 7.0: MobileStatus configuration Use alerting on errors: If checked, MobileStatus Server will send s to the recipients specified in the configuration in case of errors. SMTP Server: The SMTP server MobileStatus Server should use to send s. From address: The address MobileStatus Server should use as the sender address. Recipients: A semi-colon separated list of addresses which should receive alerts. Username: If your SMTP server requires login, enter the username here. Password: The password for the SMTP server. Use SSL for SMTP: If checked, MobileStatus Server will use SSL encryption when communicating with the SMTP server. Port: The port number to connect to the SMTP server on. The default is 25.

14 Page 14 of Web The 'Web' tab is used to configure the username and password for the web interface of the MobileStatus Server. Figure 8.0: MobileStatus web interface configuration If you want to use the web interface, you must configure a username and a password. Without them, the web interface will be disabled. If you want to allow a support technician to log in to the web interface, you need to enable the checkbox labeled "Allow remote support to access the web administration". Username: The username you want to use to log in to the web interface. Password: The password you want to use to log in to the web interface.

15 Page 15 of Manage service Using the MobileStatus Server Configuration program you can stop and start the MobileStatus Server service. This provides a shortcut to managing the service state. 16 Page 16 of 16 Appendix A: Web Access to the MobileStatus Server The MobileStatus Server can be accessed through the Internet via a standard web browser, provided the firewall is configured for this facility, i.e. it is open for the specific source address. The following syntax must be used: address:port/command, i.e. IP Address: The IP address is the official IP address or registered DNS name. Port: The port is the port number used when sending status information from the mobile network operator. The default port number is You must log in using the username and password configured using the MobileStatus Server configuration program. Using the web interface it is possible to see debug information about the server's knowledge of mobile phone status as well as configure the MobileStatus Server and any connected OCS MobileStatus clients. It is also possible to stop and restart the MobileStatus Server and connected OCS MobileStatus clients.
