Summary of Intelligent Green Mgt. Solution Steps for Energy-Saving 1Perceiving current circumstances 2Operation improvement 3Renewal of Machines DCIM,BEMS No super-cooling? No overloaded AC usage? No useless/ghost machines? Significantly Improve by replacing with the latest machines /devices 12

Example of power & cost reduction DCIM Solutions BuildingOffice Energy Solutions Rackspace Delivered a 25% Savings of Power Usage Provide services which enable user to use directly and acquired cloud solution users (about 10,000 servers/y) Tencent Improved rack-density by 71% 9% reduction of cooling power consumption by one degree C upper setting of CRAC with cooling analysis Saved $5M by implementing DCM to 10K servers Monitoring sensor Monitoring system AC control system Reduction rate 18% (estimated 320K kw/y) Payout time 2.1yr in initial cost base 13

Function Summary The software which enable us to centralize multi-vendor and multiple IT infrastructures based on the SDK provided by Intel. Supporting real-time management of IT infrastructure energy and control of power consumption by interlocking customized event logs Due to monitor to Hardware directly, NO NEED to set up sensors or dedicated agent software Virtual Gateway(VGW) enables to integrate all and various remote accesses such as KVM console/rdp, which regularly are spread widely and on massive scale. - Energy Real-time monitoring Power and Temperature Control[capping] power consumption Customize event outputs Planning Capacity - Asset Management of in-rack composition - Virtual Gateway Virtual KVM Access RDP SSH Access - Other Support 5,000 node Agent-less Term of data storage: 1 year Support Makers: DELL / HP / IBM / Fujitsu / Cisco / APC / Raritan etc. Powered by 14

Energy reduction by setting up AC temp. with chiller DCIM ROI turn up the thermostat setting Although ASHRAE put recommended temp. setting 18-27 of server inlet side, most of data centers still set low such as 13. Just turning down setting as 0.5, it delivers up to 4% energy-saving. For example, if your power consumption per month is $250K and turn up the AC setting from 23 to 24.1, you can save up to 6%, which is $180K. 15

Reduction energy by getting rid of useless/ghost servers Automatic detection of little-used servers According to Energy Star, most of data center has little-used servers as 15-30% of total, and these kind of servers just waste your running cost. For example, if you have 10K servers (0.15kWh) in your DC and you success to remove 2K little-used servers, it can save $430M. (In case of $0.17/kWh) 16

Japanese Companies Solution details Energy Management System High-Voltage Direct Current Power Supply System Direct Current Server Energy-Saving Server, Server with HTM AC with Add-on Inverter Intelligent AC System High-Efficient Local AC High-Efficient Generator Hot-aisle & Cold-aisle Isolation Automatic-calculation function of DPPE index, Monitoring power consumption of facility equipment and ICT devices, and data center management system with remote control function. By collecting all detailed data in DC and visualize all power consumption down to individual server level, power consumption will be saved by 10 15%. DCM software provided by Intel will monitor power consumption and it s vendor agnostic for server. The system is composed by HVDC commutating device, distribution board, and so on. Compared with UPS, it delivers about 20% reduction of power consumption, and 10 times improvement than usual MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures). Applying HV power supply can reduce cost and number of devices that are usual installed in around PDF/other power supply area. The server which is compatible with HVDC power supply. Efficiency of built-in power unit in server exceeds 90%, and compared with usual regular server, it reduces 40% of power consumption. Also provide built-in battery server. The leading-edge energy-saving server, and well-operational server in HTM environment (Set up AC temp. from 23 degree C to 30 degree C) They makes power consumption of server reduced by 35%-40%, and also reduces AC load. Installing product of add-on inverter controlled by PLC delivers energy-saving operation with saving consumption by 20%-30% compared with regular ACs. It delivers low initial cost with existing control tech and manufacturing tech, and turns out initial cost is about half price compared with other same solutions on the market. Putting some wireless sensor modules of temp. at the inlet side of rack, and collecting data of temp. to wireless gateway through wireless network. Automatically control AC based on the data from those sensors, and it saves power consumption of AC by about 30%. Local spot AC that putting it in line of racks that temp. usually goes up easily delivers more efficient cooling. It saves power consumption by up to 50%. The Gas Engine that has the world s top level generating efficiency in energy and environmental design. It s flexible to scale and easily to be fit/customize to each DC scale and has rapid start-up that goes to 100% operational status within 10 minutes. It has all advantage of features of Gas Engine. By isolating hot area(outlet side of rack) and cold area(inlet side of rack) in server room, it can stop mixing up heat-air and cold-air, and optimizes AC efficiency more. Multiple enterprises have this tech/solutions. 19
